Pure Enrichment MistAire XL Ultrasonic Cool Mist Humidifier

This is my first ever humidifier, and I must say that I am a bit impressed. Very simple product that runs on its own. Purchased this to reduce the dryness in my study room. I don't always put on the air conditioner since I mainly stay in my study room, so I decided to try this humidifier, and I think it was worth it. Have used this numerous times in my room, and it really helps as long as it is a small room. (mine is 12 x 15ft) Here is a quick summary: - Simple: Fill with water, turn on, cool vapor is emitted. No need to watch over it. - Small/compact: Takes as much space as a basketball - Elegant design - Extremely quiet. No noise whatsoever except once in a while, you may hear some water bubbles gurgling - Very easy to take apart, and fill with water. - Product description says "cool mist", however, it's not really a mist, but rather a visible vapor - The "vapor" that emits from the top looks like white smoke, but it is a very fine vapor (like a smoke stack) - Vapor has a "cool" temperature feel. You can actually feel the "coolness" when you put your hand or face in the vapor (I do that alot) - The vapor rises as high as two feet in the air, then drifts downward and dissipates. Better to leave the unit on a table instead of the floor - Vapor will rise higher if on a table - I was under the assumption from the pictures that the vapor leaves a watery texture/residue on surfaces, however, there is not a drop of water anywhere. It evaporates before hitting any surfaces - I have left mine running overnite, and there was never any water on the surface it is on. Very impressed. - Nite lite is pretty neat. Blue color is the best. I wish purple was an option. - The tank is filled from the bottom, then you close the opening with the cover/cap. It has a seal/gasket, so it wont leak. - Auto shutoff does work. When my tank goes empty, it shuts off automatically - Does it work? Well, in my room, I don't feel as warm/sweaty as I normally do. Room is not as warm as it normally is. So, I would say that it does impact my room in a positive way. Don't need to keep my air conditioner on for the whole house when I am in just one room. One thing to watch out for. I have been leaving the humidifier on for several hours at max speed. This will cause the house to have a "hazy/foggy" appearance. It seems to be a common phenomenon when using any humidifier. If that happens, you can lower the intensity settings on the humidifier. After reading tons of material on the inet, it's still not clear to me why this "haze" occurs throughout the house. Also, before buying a humidifier, you really should watch videos on youtube about humidifiers (using, cleaning, mold, dry versus damp..etc). Alot of good videos. Overall, I did not know what to expect from this unit, but it has done very well. I use it a lot, when in my study room. Not sure if this will work well in a big room, but for my purposes, it is fine.

I purchased a humidifier because the Northern air gets so dry, and then running heaters in the winter time, compounds the matter even worse. Did you know that experts have proven that, if the air gets too dry, you can get sick easier? I feel so much better when I humidify the air, I breath easier, and sleep easier as well. Plus, if the air gets too dry, you can also shock yourself on everything in your home, thats usually an indicator that your humidity is bellow 30%. I also purchased a humidity meter from the acurite brand, as I like to know where my humidity levels are at all times. Just for reference, if you can keep your humidity levels around 40% to 50% MAX, you will live happier. I have owned this humidifier for 2-years now, and I can tell you right now, that longevity is pretty good so far. I bought this for large rooms, so that I have the output if necessary. The resovoir holds up to 1-gallon of water, and its really easy to fill. Just lift the container off the base, flip it over, remove the fill cap, fill all the way up, replace cap, put container back down onto base. On the first use, you will see lots of bubbles, while the water fills up the base resovoir where the transducer is located, that creates the ultra sonic vaporization. This unit comes with two nozzles. The directional nozzle, and the 2-way nozzle. Use the directional nozzle when placing this unit near a wall, you obviously don't want to shoot water vapor into your wall. When used in an open space where there is at least 3 feet all around the unit, use the 2-way nozzle to get higher flow. Additionally, the on/off knob also controls the flow amount. Depending on how bad the humidity is, use 50% to 75% flow, for small rooms. For use in large rooms, maintain 100% flow unless water begins to form around the unit and surface it is on, then back off on the flow. This is why I highly recommend the use of a humidity meter. I like being able to know where my humidity is at all times. I do not want to exceed 50%, as it will get far too humid. But I also don't want to drop bellow 30%, and would rather keep it at a happy 40% medium. Its also nice having the meter cause in the summer time, we don't want humidity, so I can pay attention to what the humidity is doing, while I run the 2-AC units. Also, this unit has a LED light mode, up to three colors can be chosen, and can be turned on by pressing the touch sensor button, just above the flow control knob. I do wish that the max flow had a higher rate then it does, and a higher push into the air. However, for what it does do, I am pretty happy with it. This unit is also fairly easy to clean as well. I use filtered water from a Britta jug, so the deposits don't get too bad. If you use tap water, you will only breath disgusting water vapor, and will lesson the life of your unit, making cleaning more difficult. Using filtered water, I only really need to do a rinsing once a week, and a cleaning of the transducer, with the included brush. And a final cleaning with 1-cup distilled white vinegar with mostly water solution, before putting up for storage. Keep the unit clean and you should have no problems. I highly recommend it, 5-STARS! UPDATE Jan 7th 2019! I wanted to give everybody an update on how this humidifier is doing. It is now 3-years old, and it is still working! I know, hard to believe, when we know how quickly things die these days due to planned obsolescence. I have the humidifier running right now infact, as after the rains stopped again, the humidity went down to 34%, and I decided to start humidifying. The unit is still in pretty good condition, I do have some discoloration within the transducer area due to wear, I don't think much can be done about that besides a straight vinegar cleaning. Speaking of which, I have run a 1-cup vinegar to full tank of water in the tank to clean it out. I just let it sit for 30-minutes, and then cleaned it out. Now, if the deposits that form that yellow gooyness is really bad, the vinegar treatment will at least break it up to make it loose its bond, then you can fish a paper towel through inside the hole to clean off the bottom inside of the tank. Again I can't stress enough how important it is to use filtered water. Companies advertisements always lie to consumers making them think they can use tap water. Sure, but if your tap water is hard water like ours, it will dirty up your humidifier so darn fast, you'll be cleaning it every day! At least filtered water, such as that from a Britta jug container, will at least extend your cleaning times to once per week, and then at least 1 or 2 vinegar cleanings per year of use. Cleaning is important with this product for your health, as you want to breath clean moisture in the air, but don't cause yourself unnecessary labor by using tap water please. The humidifier is still able to push out its full power as it did in the first 2-years of use. One thing I've noticed over the years is, the colder the water is, the longer it takes to get going. We keep our Britta jug in the fridge, cause I don't like to drink room temperature water, and when the freshly cold water runs in the machine, it takes time for it to build up the moisture vapor till its going full strength. But this machine does a really good job in bringing up the humidity in the room. One of the things I like about it as well, is that its efficient on power consumption. Since were using a lot of electricity running space heaters, since its winter and all, I am grateful for the low consumption of the unit. Anytime you have a heating device, it uses a lot of power. Its just one of the reasons why I don't like steam based humidifiers, cause your running elements in there that draw a lot of power. And cold running humidifiers, use transducers, which generate ultrasonic vibrations, which vaporizes the water instead, while a onboard fan, pushes the vapor out. I still highly recommend this humidifier and I keep the rating at 5 out of 5!

This is a good product for the price. I use it in the bedroom for moisture while sleeping. Very easy to use and very quiet. Water capacity good.

Ive had this for over a year and I absolutely love this humidifier. I bought it for my office, and it has made a huge difference in a super dry work environment, especially during winter. It’s compact, but the tank is big enough that a full fill actually lasts me the entire workday, which I didn’t expect at all. I like taking short breaks and letting the mist hit my face to rehydrate my skin and clear up my nose after staring at multiple monitors all day. It’s super soft to inhale and don’t make me cough like other humidifiers. It’s quiet, easy to use, and doesn’t feel flimsy. I liked it so much that I ended up buying one for my wife’s office too. Simple, effective, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s super easy to clean too.. not a lot of parts, so you can rinse and use small star cleaners to brush off any debris or stains.

UPDATE 2: Down from 4 to 1 stars! I've had the unit for a little over a year now and it constantly leaks. It has ruined my nightstand. I finally figured out the leak is coming from the water tank along the edge that meets the bottom of the container. I noticed there is mold growing inside the seal as well, which can't be cleaned out. I'm so fed up with this machine and have purchased a different unit. I'm not sure how this has such a great review ratings when so many people have issues with it leaking. Save your money and buy a different one! UPDATE: I've had the unit now for a little over 2 months and use it daily. Recently the unit has started to randomly leak on my night stand. It doesn't happen all the time, but maybe once a week. I have no idea where the water is leaking from. So far so good! Due to the air being so dry this winter, my throat and sinuses have been drying out. I bought this to help moisten the air while I sleep. After the first night I could tell a difference in the air and my throat felt so much better. I've turn it on when I get home from work and keep it on until I leave the house again. It's easy to use and fill. Once filled, the tank lasts for about two days when on the lower speed and probably about a day when left on the high speed. There is a "nightlight" feature which can be turned on and off. My only issue as of right is the "on light" is fairly bright and stays on so long as the machine is in use. I placed a piece of tape over the "on" button and it helps, but the light illuminates through the tank. It's not a deal breaker, but I prefer to sleep in pitch black and little lights tend to bother me after awhile. I have yet to clean the tank, but I did find the small cleaning brush in the box. After a week in, I'm fairly pleased with this humidifier. For the price, I find it works well.

I got this for my office. After buying a thermometer with a humidity gauge, I discovered how painfully dry my office was (10% humidity or less). I began looking for a solution. I've used humidifiers at home for years. But when I started looking for a smaller size for the office, I ran into a lot of junk. Most of the units were either USB plugins with dubious reviews or units that use wicks (more on that in a minute) or both. My first home humidifier had a wick and it was awful. It would mold eventually no matter how careful and meticulous we tried to be. Plus, you have to replace the wicks/filters periodically. Well, the model we were using was discontinued after a year or two (not uncommon) and then we were only able to get wicks from a third-party seller (not OEM). It was time for a change. Eventually, we went with ultrasonic mist and it is definitely the way to go. No wicks. No filters. Just an easy to use humidifier. The MistAire unit is like a smaller version of the humidifiers I use at home and it's perfect for my office. It's essentially silent (sometimes it gurgles for a sec as water flows into the receptacle) and produces a fine mist vapor. The mist does not puddle on the desk or leave moisture on things. If you leave things near it, they may feel cooler, and perhaps vaguely damp, but not the wetness that you see complained about in many of the lower quality USB-powered units. It has a high and low setting and you can turn the light on inside if you desire (I didn't think I'd like the light, but I've been using it cuz it looks kind of cool). The unit shuts down when it runs dry as well. It is super easy to fill. I use filtered water. You don't have to use filtered water, but it helps to keep the unit clean. From my experience with my home units, I know that you do need to at least wipe the unit down at least weekly. I use disinfecting wipes and that seems to work very well. Occasionally, I'll get some lime/calcium-type build up and I'll use a little Lime-Away and that cleans it right up. I imagine that this system will be very similar. A little care once in a while keeps your humidifier looking like new. So if you are looking for a small space humidifier, this is an excellent choice. It's plug-in, not USB. And it tripled to quadrupled the humidity level in my office in no time. My hands no longer feel like they are cracking. It just feels so much better.

I received this ultrasonic cooling mist humidifier yesterday and couldn't wait to try it out before bed! Before buying this humidifier, I read almost all the buyer reviews on Amazon! Some buyers mentioned that this humidifier leaks! So I paid special attention to that! Of course, I have confidence in most of the positive reviews, after all, this humidifier was directly recommended to me by AI—because I told AI I have dry eyes! My review after using it for one night is as follows: Following the instructions, there was no leakage! When I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, my eyes didn't feel as dry as usual (but still a little, since I only used it for one night). Also: I like the humidifier's beautiful design; the blue light emitted in the quiet of the night creates a very nice visual effect!

This room humidifier is rated to work adequately in a fairly large (250 ft2) room. Since the VOLUME of the room must be taken into account, I assume they mean a 2000 ft3 room (250 ft2 and an 8' ceiling). The bedroom I used it in is just shy of 1838 ft3, so is close to the limit of the unit's stated capability. It is very quiet (extremely low "white noise" and occasional gurgles), does not need a filter to catch minerals in the water, and leaves no mineral dust anywhere. I bought it to help cure the problem with my nasal passages becoming dry/stuffed up/bloody due to dry winter air. However, I happen to have a hygrometer in this room. It appears that the humidifier in this (large) room has a minimal impact on humidity. Even when run at max output all night, it added only ~2-3% (from 44% to 46-47%). The operational criticisms I have are the instructions and the power button. The instructions appear to have been written for a similar earlier model and have not been updated for the current design. The illustrations are drawings, not photos, and some do not display the real-life look of the current model. It is, however, relatively easy to figure out what's what after you separate the tank from the base (it's called the "body" in the instructions, but “base” would be more descriptive). The specifications in the instructions are sparse and generate some questions. As noted above, the max room size is listed as "250 ft2", but the specs should say either "2000 ft3" or "250 ft2 with an 8 ft ceiling." The Moisture Output is stated as "150ml/hr.", but does not say at what setting. Since the Tank Capacity is given as “1.5 liters”, at 150ml/hr., it would only run for 10 hours, so by inference, that spec must be the max output. However, it does not match up with my real-life test where it ran for 13 hours at max output. So either the specs are inaccurate, or there was something wrong with the unit I got (is putting out significantly less than 150ml/hr.). Despite the instructions saying throughout that the power button is “pushed”, it cannot be pushed. The word “push” should be replaced with “touch”, because it does not depress or click; it just detects that your finger either touched OR CAME CLOSE TO it (within 1/8"). The fact that you don't have to actually touch the button, just come close to it, sometimes causes it to switch to a different mode just before your finger lands on it, which causes it to move to yet another of the 5 modes: 1- Low Speed, light off; 2- Low Speed, light on; 3- High Speed, light on; 4- High Speed, light off; 5- turn unit off. You also have to commit these to memory to know what mode you've chosen. Each mode change is confirmed by a VERY high frequency/low volume beep. I'm a 78-year-old male. My hearing (and that of most males my age) is poor over 4000 Hz. If I'm not wearing my hearing aids, which I typically am not because I'm going to bed, I can hear the beep only if my ears are within a foot or so of the unit. Bottom line: It would have been better to (a) change the power button to one that can be pushed in (and clicks) or must actually be touched, (b) lower the beep frequency so older users can hear it, and (c) put 4 tiny LED's above the power button to tell you what power setting you're on OR replace the button with an analog 5-position switch (off + the 4 power-on settings). The power button is also the Low Water Level Indicator. The instructions say, ". . .the LED indicator light on the body (the base) will change from green to red . . ." The problem: The "indicator light" (i.e., the button) may have been green in earlier models, but is BLUE in the current model. No big deal, but another indicator that the instructions have not been updated. While I could live with the behavior of the "button", I needed a humidifier that significantly increases the humidity in the large room where it was used. I don't think this product can do that with a room larger than 1/2 the size of our bedroom, especially if the room has forced air heat (heat and cold-air-return vents). As a result, I wound up returning it.

I often wake up with or get sinus headaches overnight and feel dehydrated and so I don’t sleep well. After research I found out that a humidifier can help and after reading mostly good reviews I bought this one to try in my bedroom. It has really helped! It is really quiet which is great but the power button is bright and I like a dark room so I have to stand something in front of it. It also unexpectedly has an American plug so I then had to buy a USA/English adaptor which was a nuisance more than a problem. I also hadn’t realised that you should use distilled water in it. I initially bought a 5litre bottle but that lasted less than a week. It is going to be a pain and expensive to have to keep buying the water especially as you can’t get them from the supermarkets. I don’t know what would happen if you use tap water and as it is an expensive item I do not want to risk it. Overall though I am really pleased with it and it is certainly helping me sleep better and have far less headaches. Would recommend.

I have been using this since few months and extremely satisfied. Previously I was having nasel infection due to dryness from heating system. After using the humidifier I am fully recovered and having sound sleep. Highly recommended!
