Walking with Mary: A Biblical Journey from Nazareth to the Cross

I love this book about Mother Mary!

A group of women from our parish meet once a week to read & discuss this book. We have all enjoyed this time learning about Mary's journey. The book has given us insight into Mary's journey and the things we go through each day. We started out with his book on the Mass then read the Real Story. He has made it simple enough to understand and challenging for more depth.

Quick delivery. This book is interesting. Using only Bible scripture and analysis of local custom, the Catholic author explains how we know what we do about Mary.

This is an easily understandable book about Mary, the mother of Jesus, and her place in the bible and in our lives. I enjoyed the clarity of Dr. Sri's descriptions and his use of resources to explain his ideas. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in knowing why Catholics honor Mary or in knowing more about her as seen in the bible.

Well written, easy to understand. So many books are too scholarly—this was the exact right speed for me. Encourage anyone with an interest in Mary and her importance to get this book.

As a mother, I could relate to Walking with Mary. Considering what she was asked to do, how she trusted her faith in God, and how she preserved in her faithfulness throughout this journey was very impactful to me. I thought about my own feelings as a mother and how I have had to let my children “go” to pursue their own path in life with the Lord by their side.

I never quite understood why Catholics revered Mary so much. Now I understand why they do. She is a perfect example of how one should relate to God. She is our spiritual mother. This book has helped me to understand this.

Mary’s secret to us, that she “lived” in numerous trials in her life… “do whatever He tells you”, is the ultimate key to eternal life in Heaven…(through obedience to God)…. just as the Israelites had proclaimed they would do when confirming their covenant with God, though Mary succeeded where they failed. Dr. Sri has a beautiful way of presenting his points, stacked with Biblical truths, in a way that is easily understandable…Mary is our intercessor, telling us to do just as He tells us. Dr. Sri beautifully proclaimed that all of us should hear Mary’s words and do what Jesus is requiring of US, even when we don’t understand, so that we may hear Jesus proclaim to us, job well done my faithful servant, come share my reign with me in Heaven!

Edward Sri is one of my favourite religious authors. He writes in an easy and very engaging manner that brings everything alive. He always has a new way of looking at historical things. He makes me WANT to pray!

First of all I should mention that this IS a Catholic book, written by a Catholic and it is based on the Catholic teaching, not only on Mary. However, as it is a "biblical journey", it follows Mary throughout the New Testament and does not go into explanations of the Catholic dogmas as proclaimed at various Councils despite quoting Pope John Paul II or Cardinal Ratzinger. Edward Sri is a biblical scholar and in his book, he shows Mary's life in wide historical context which enables him to highlite and to draw lines between parts of the Scriptures that could easily be overseen. I would recommend this book to every one who wishes to deepen their relationship to Mary, to know more about her than the Nativity story tells but also to every one who have been annoyed by or could not understand the Catholic take on her. This book is well and clearly argued, it is not a novel.

The size of the book is small containing only 175 pages, in comparison to the huge cost it demands while buying. But the book is totally worth the price, it gives us very beautiful insight towards the life of our blessed virgin, who received the sovereign grace of God. She was born in Nazareth a town so small in galilee, that it was merely insignificant and is not mentioned in the old testament. But God by his divine grace should mercy on this humble woman named Mary from Nazareth to choose her to be the mother of the messiah. This book has a few chapters which are according to the chapters of the Bible along with reference from the verses directly quoting from them. Very informative for new learners towards the marian philosophy.

This was an excellent book. I am doing a bible study on the topic and this was a great resource for me. Good information. Made me think.
