A: the rods are very rigid and feel like they are solid, Franke can most likely answer that for sure

**Q: will this fit over the Franke 33" single basin farm sink? back to front - not width of 33"**
A: I'm not sure, but I use it across the top of my Kohler cast iron drop in sink.  The rubber edge sits on the sink lip.  I Love it!  I have a small kitchen and it works like a charm to add additional counter space.
