Brown Betty 6 Cup Teapot Cobalt Blue

Being honest here - this is my first "real" teapot. I've owned several over the years but they have been tag sale finds, hand-me-downs and cheap ones that I picked up just to have one - but this, this I picked for myself.This teapot is an excellent size and has a pretty pour. It is thick enough that the "belly" of the pot doesn't get so hot that it feels like it will burn your hands if you touch it and it keeps the tea hot for a fairly good amount of time. Now, don't mistake me, if you are going to sit for hours, supplying delicately from a single cup while you elegantly while away your day, your tea is going to go cold - that's just the way it is. At that point, just add some simple syrup and ice and get on with your life, sheesh... But if you and a guest or two are having a nice cup and a chat, you'll be good to go.I also like that I don't have to be paranoid about the top of this pot - the lid sits nicely and stays put well when executing a standard pour. You can't flip the pot to a 90° angle but you shouldn't be anyway - if that's your instinct sit down, calm down and have a cuppa you wild thing!tl;dr: I am super pleased with this teapot - it's just exactly what I wanted!

I received this lovely teapot, made in England. Upon receipt, I filled it with hot, soapy tap water for cleaning, and the pot proceeded to emit little crackling sounds with the heat. But there were no discernible cracks in the glazing. I noticed that this pot really retained heat over a fair amount of time. This is a very useful, lovely teapot. I specifically wanted a UK sourced product, and this totally fit the bill. Beautiful cobalt blue glazing, and an elegant pouring design. Could not be more satisfied with this purchase.

It has a long history. It was designed to get the best flavor from the tea leaves and maintains the heat longer than some other teapots.

I was very leery of lead in glazes and really did my research before making this purchase. Truly believed I was buying a quality product. Well, all I can say positively is there’s no lead in the glaze. I treated it like a prized possession, hand washed only. It did get used daily, but so did my last teapot and it lasted 20yrs. This one barely made it a year and a half. Cracks in handle glaze showed up two weeks ago and I thought it was just a bit of crazing. Nope. This was an expensive disappointment.

If you are looking for a real English "Brown Betty" this is the real thing! Lovely deep cobalt blue color. Interestingly it is glazed inside and out. A white porcelain teapot is usually only glazed on the outside. I wonder why?My delivery from "EpicCo" was very well packaged. No risk of breakage. As insurance to protect the spout from chip or breakage I added a $4 "Silicone Tea Spout Cover - Clear" https://amazon.com/gp/product/B00ITW9YEO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 .I'm rating at 4 rather than 5 stars because this teapot gets HOT on the outside enough to burn my skin. I must pick it up with a pot holder! Suspect the metal mineral content of the red clay and the glazing inside and out contribute to the heat. However the tea does stay hot for a long time, so the heat is not just going into the air.Lastly I have noticed that I do not have to pre-warm the teapot to get the best cup of black tea, as I must with my white porcelain teapots. Another indication that this teapot is a good insulator.Recommended.

This beautiful Cobalt Blue ("Brown Betty teapot") arrived beautifully packaged and on-time (actually earlier than expected). Whomever packaged this, did an outstanding job! It's absolutely beautiful and I am enjoying it greatly. Lovely gift or for oneself, especially if you enjoy your daily tea (parties). Cheers
