Saving me money on bags
Incorporated this into our floor sanding operations and I’ll save$1000sin dust bags over time. We absolutely have to use bags to keep dust to a minimum and we fill them fast, however a 12 gallon shop vac bag can only be filled with 6-8 gallons of dust at best. I run this w/ clRke12 but running w/ a ridged ( Home Depot) vac the dust collection is amazing. This fills up and virtually none in the vacuum itself . Connected to the Clark ( 2 1200 watt motors) it’s rediculios in a good way and can run a 220 volt planetary sander no problem and dust collection is better than expected and saving lots on bags. One complaint , it’s $15 less new than a week ago . CApitolism , go figure . It is just a canister w, no motors . Still 5 stars. Super easy to assemble, like 5 min and basic as it gets

Well-built, very functional dust separator.
The separator was shipped in the factory box and arrived undamaged. Assembly consists of attaching the cycle-separator to the lid with six screws. The wheels are installed with four screws. Total time to unbox and assemble was around ten minutes. The casters appear to be more than robust enough to support the separator. Fit and finish was impressive. Connections - there have been some reviews complaining about the diameter of the hose that came with the dust separator and with connecting it to a shop vac. I connected the cyclone to my large Bosch shop vac with a standard 2 1/2" hose that comes with most full size shop vacs, without the need for fittings or adapters. The shop vac hose fit over the top fitting for the cyclone. For connections to hand-held power tools, my miter saw, and multiple utility accessories, I use a 30' Cen-Tec, 1 1/4" hose. These hoses have quick connect adapters that can fit just about most sanders, saws, routers, miter-saws, etc. This hose fits perfectly inside the intake port on the cyclone with no adapters or fittings required. For the previously listed tools, you are not looking for high volumes of air flow. You want high velocity air movement which can easily move dust through your tools to the dust collector. High velocity is best achieved with a reasonably smaller hose, and the 1 1/4" Cen-Tec hose is perfect. I use the same Cen-Tec hose with an extension wand and a floor attachment to clean up sawdust, chips, and shavings from the floor around my lathes. With the Bosch shop vac set to 50%, it still does a great job with this hose. The Dewalt dust separator probably does a bit better at dust separation than my Dust Deputy did. That can be difficult to quantify because I use a HEPA bag in the shop vac. The Dewalt separator appears to have more air flow too, but I could not quantify that without a meter. Even without a scientific comparison, the Dewalt separator definitely gets the job done. Advantages over the Dust Deputy - from my perspective: The ten gallon stainless steel canister adds very little overall height, but the additioal capacity over the 5 gallon Dust Deputy is a big plus. The Dewalt lids securely clamps down to the collection canister. This is a big plus if you are mobile and moving around a space with the separator, as the lid on the Dust Deputy is not secured all that tightly. The casters on the Dewalt also help with mobility, vs the Dust Deputy with is just a bucket on the floor. (Dust Deputy does offer a 5 gallon unit with casters and a stainless steel ten gallon separator with casters too.) Most dust separators work reasonably well, with minor difference relative to efficiency and air flow. If you could qunatify the differences between most of them, it is unlikely that it would make a difference in the real world useage of them. The Dewalt separator is well made, and it works as you would expect it to. It's a good deal for the price, and online reviews are very positive.

Totally does the job
First off, I want to express some frustration. The separator comes with a 1 78" hose and not a 2 1/5". I have a LOT of machines in my small shop. I've had a lot of machines through there in the last 30 years. Exactly 1 has had a 1 7/8" dust port. If you order one and want to use the included hose, then you'll need to order an adaptor. DeWalt should include an adaptor or, better yet, a proper-sized hose. I'm also frustrated with the frequent price changes, shooting up $50 for apparently no reason in days, then changing every day...why? It's a good tool, but the price varied over a 6 month period like $70. When it came back down and I was staring at a huge stack of wood to plane, I went ahead and bought it. That said, this thing WORKS. I've used it for one day. I got it to use mostly with my planer, which just puts out a ton of chips. It fills my collector really fast and changing the bag is a pain, meaning I'm stopping frequently for ten minutes to change out the bag. With this, I just connect a shop vac and, when it fills, just dump the tank into a small barrel I keep next to it. Total emptying time, maybe a minute. You can see the little tornado in the upper section, which is neat. I dragged my wife out to my shop to let her see...not sure she was impressed, but I did try. Would give it five stars if I didn't have to go back online and order an adaptor. I did cannibalize another shop vac temporarily, and that worked. Priced new 2/1/2" hoses for the task and they are just way overpriced.

It looks like I will never have to buy another cartridge filter or dust bag for my vacuum.
Using this with the DeWalt random orbital sander to sand a painted redwood fence it appears to be capturing 100% of the sanding debris with nothing actually going into the dust bag of the Vacmaster vacuum. Prior to using this the bag was filling up quickly and the main filter was also becoming clogged up. In addition the inside of the vacuum is staying totally clean where prior to using the dust separator the inside of the vacuum was collecting paint debris from the fence. Wish I had bought it many years ago. Glad I went with the stainless steel tank instead of trying to use a plastic bucket. Everything fits and works perfectly. I read previously about plastic buckets collapsing when just the top unit was purchased. I could totally see this happening as when I turn it on you can hear the stainless steel tank make a brief popping sound under the force of the natural cyclone suction.

Does what it is designed to do
Replaces an orange bucket mounted cyclone dust collector that fell over when glanced at. This one I have mounted on a home built, rolling stand above a DeWalt shop vac. Works a treat and you can quickly be mesmerized by the sight of all your shavings going around and around in the translucent funnel. Is it a little big and clunky? Why yes it is. However, if you want a simple dust collection system that doesn't involve plastic buckets, it does the trick.

Great dust collector!
Was looking for a dust collector to hook in series with my shop vac to catch wood dust, to be able use less air filters in my shop vac. This device fits the bill exactly as to what I needed. Plugs right in and hoses hooked right up. Highly recommended to hook into shop vac system!

Happy customer? No - DELIGHTED
99.5% is clearly an understatement. There isn't a single speck of dust anywhere in my shop vac. Like... it's literally clean enough in there to install a screen protector on a tablet. Bonus points for whoever made the cyclonic separator translucent - it's surprisingly fun to watch the dusty bits do a high-velocity pirouette as they go where they're told. Took me 3 min to unbox/assemble - 4 screws for the casters, 6 for the separator), and there were zero signs of any shipping damage. I've only used it once, and was absolutely floored at its effectiveness - VERY refreshing to see a product live up to the marketing hype! Will update if anything changes, but I don't anticipate that happening. Thank you, DeWalt!

Excelente producto

Works
Brilliant function. I used it together with my concrete grinder. Before I had to change bag and clean filter ever 10th minute. With this contraption I can grind for 2h and the bag is far from full. I would have given 5stars if some hose adaptors would have been included. I had to buy DeWalt car cleaning kit to get a hose and some size adaptors

Sehr gute Performance
Bin sehr begeistert.
