Not your typical pro cyclist book
It is a great insight into the world of professional track and road cycling. The book is a series of short essays on all aspects of Geraint's cycling life. It is not your typical review of his greatest hits, in fact he doesn't really talk that much about himself but more of the people in his life. He has a subtle sense of humor that is very entertaining. You really get a feel of what life is like as a pro cyclist instead of just writing about his greatest hits. Not your typical cyclist book, Very entertaining.

A good recount of a wanderfull ride
This is Geraint very personal story of his marvelous career as a professional cyclist. It is well written and full of anecdotes. The books conveys his opinion that dedication and sacrifice leads to fitness and to its reward: success. And furthermore, he provides support to the contention that cycling, in all its specialities, requires a sustained and well functioning team work, perhaps above many other sports. He is generous and accurate in describing how much the individuals and the team depends on the know-how and human qualities of all the team members. I was expecting a little deeper discussion of the role of tactics and of the rider-rider interactions in his achievements. Perhaps material for a second publication. G: Well done.

Thomas is currently a great rider for British Cycling and Team Sky
Worth reading for one who is genuinely interested in World Tour cycling with emphasis behind the scenes at British Cycling and Team Sky.

Recommended.
I quick read from G on his insights on many aspects of cycling. A wide range of topics covering locations, training, teammates, bosses, suffering and lots and lost of info on dieting and starving as a pro-cyclist. I don't think he spills all the beans of what goes on but enough to make it interesting. Recommended.

This is not a book about the faint-hearted.
What do I know about cycling. Other than that I rode my bike to school every day in the sixities, I know very little. The insight given by Geraint Thomas in this book has been very informative to me. It is hard to imagine riding a bicycle for the long shifts that these guys put in if the road is flat, but with hills and wind it all seems impossible for me to comprehend. The way that the stories are retold by G put a new slant on the courage and strength of these super athletes. This is not a book for the faint-hearted.

Frank and Entertaining Insights
I became a real fan of road cycling this summer when a minor injury confined me to the sofa during the last two weeks of the Tour de France. Along with every other British cycling fan, I was gripped with the race as Geraint Thomas made his way to victory in Paris. Therefore, when this book popped up on Kindle daily deal earlier this month, it was a bargain I wanted to snap up. It made an interesting and entertaining read, with information and anecdotes all told with Geraint’s dry and self-deprecating sense of humour. The book is well put together with the help of ghost writer Tom Fordyce and covers all kinds of topics relating to cycling from people to places, and techniques to terminology. Geraint and Tom tell it like it is with no ceremony and (excessive) introduction. In fact, reading the first chapter makes you feel like you’ve walked into the middle of a conversation and missed the preamble to the topic. This style of storytelling though is part of the attraction of this account of the world of cycling, G style. I particularly smiled at the little snippets discussing aspects that would now be approached differently post-Tour win. For example: the formidable Alpe D’Huez climb, where Geraint won a stage, becoming the first Briton to do so, on his way to being crowned champion. All in all, I highly recommend this book for a frank and entertaining insight into the life of a professional cyclist as told by one of Britain’s best. And I’m looking forward to following it up with reading The Tour According to G.

Interesting but...
I recommend this book for a cycling fan, you get a clear view of a pro life, training and racing. On the other hand, i felt that Geraint Thomas is a bit narrow-minded, totally "uk-centered".

A hella fun ride of a book!
This fun page-turner of a book makes you feel as if you were right there with Mr Thomas, whose dreams of being a cyclist started in the laneways of Cardiff, and witnessing the joys and struggles of trying to make it big in cycling's biggest stages: the mountains of France and the Olympic velodromes where he, along with his Team GB mates, notched gold twice and set world records in team pursuit. In the book, 'G' offers valuable and often amusing insights into what it's actually like to be a professional rider--the discipline, the training, the sacrifices (both by himself and his loved ones), the people and the mindset that turned childhood dreams into reality.More than anything, however, this book is about G's world instead of "the world of cycling". It's that close cocoon inhabited by figures from Team Sky and to some degree, by British cycling's biggest names. It is about getting started in the sport, sticking on the right kit (or wearing it right), training in all sorts of weather, diet and nutrition, gear, and where to find the best cappuccino after a good ride. It's also about the people who contributed to his success, the heroes sung and unsung, friends, and Sa, his longtime partner.
