My curiosity got the better of me so I ordered this and as expected (yet still to my disappointment) there is absolutely no leather in this item at all. The cover is layers of fabric and even the string tying it closed is a fake suede. The photo/card case that comes with it is also not leather. It's really appalling that this is advertised as "leather" as it's not even "faux leather" but more of a nylon fabric. I don't know if reviews praising the quality of the leather are fake or whether the seller sends out better samples to gather good reviews then spams the rest of us with the real product. So why do I still give it two stars? The A5 ring mechanism inside has bigger rings than most of the ring mechanisms I have been able to find and I'm keeping the item so I can drill out the rivets and install it into ACTUAL leather (I have several hides). If a price seems to good to be true, it almost always is. It comes with a lot of plain paper at least, the inside diameter of the rings is at least 30mm - not easy to find.

It breaks my heart to have to post this review. This is a beautiful journal. I bought some A5 tab pages to give myself different sections as I hoped to use this as a writer's journal. When I first pulled it out at a write-in with my writer's group, I became the envy of all. They began whipping out their phones to get on Amazon and purchase their own. Unfortunately, before anyone got the chance, I pressed on the tabs that open the rings. As soon as I did, the bottom one broke in my hand. Many of us made attempts to fix it hoping it was just loose but to no avail.The company sent me numerous emails asking for a review and to see if I was happy. I hadn't replied yet because I had yet to use it. But on Saturday when it snapped I immediately sent them a message through Amazon as well as in direct reply to one of the many emails they had sent me. I assured my fellow writers that as they appeared so concerned about my happiness they would surely reply quickly and set everything right.It is now 12:05 Thursday morning and I have had zero reply from them.Since they were so insistent on hearing my feelings and giving a review- here it is.FYI- I have attempted to add a photo a few times and it isn't taking but I will continue to try.

The leather cover is beautiful, but not the burnished brown as in the picture -- it's more of a reddish, but the leather is high quality. The paper, though, Is obviously just taken from another blank book , ripped away from the cover because you can see the glue that used to adhere the paper to its former cover. So you get maybe a 1/2 inch or three-quarter inch block of paper, lined around the edges, unlined in the text area. It's notepaper that's not only not very high-quality, but also just looks sloppy. Some of the paper was a bit wrinkled and while I'm sure it would stay within the three-ring binder, it just looks cheap and clumsy. Also, replacing the paper with fairly easy to find DayTimer- type paper is more expensive then the leather cover itself. I had such high hopes for this , but I'm very disappointed – – and mine didn't even come with a leather tie but with a snap , which I think would have worn fairly quickly .

If you're looking at other journals on Amazon, close those tabs because THIS is the journal you want to buy. I bought this journal to write notes about an upcoming trip and to use as a journal while there and this is everything I was looking for! The journal is larger than I expected and sturdier. The paper is heavy and you get a TON of it. Everything looks and works perfect.I also enjoyed (and I'm a little ashamed to admit this) the cute emails I received from Paper Pret- written from the perspective of my journal- when I ordered. I received follow up emails (yes that is plural) just making sure that I received my journal and was happy with it. Paper Pret is obviously proud of their product and it shows in these emails (as well as in the journal itself).One final thing, it comes boxed nicely so if you are thinking about giving it as a gift, it will make a nice impression.

The best endorsement I can give is that after I received mine, I immediately got one for my sister who has been wanting a leather journal.The leather is decent quality. For the price, I was VERY pleased. There are places for pens/pencils, and the paper is bound using a six ring spine that opens and closes like a binder. The two sides of the rings match up and are secure, and I like that I can reload it with the paper of my choice (after cutting it down and punching the holes).I highly, highly recommend this for a gift. My sister was very impressed. It also comes with a little credit card holder (kinda random). I never did find the ebook, however, but that could be "user error".

This is CLEARLY not leather. Like.. it's made out of the soft foam you can buy at the craft store, and lined with felt, and then wrapped in a thin leather cord. That doesn't make the journal leather. It won't hold up under tough conditions like leather would.. which is why I had bought this journal. My best friend writes out in the woods often and I wanted something sturdy and simple that wouldn't fall apart. But this is literally made out of craft foam.Needless to say, I'm extremely disappointed. It LOOKS nice, but you can clearly see the layers of non-leather when you look at the neatly cut corners of this thing. Leather just doesn't look or feel like this. Don't be fooled by all these great reviews, trust me. Looks good, and it's soft, but it's definitely not leather. Might be nice for a kid but a grown adult who writes deserves better than this thing.
