There are no English markings on the box that i can find which verify this. It IS a smooth dark and high quality pencil, though. I'm very satisfied with them. **Q: Do these say “Made by elaborate process” on the pencil?** A: I do not see that. There are Asian characters (I’m assuming Japanese) etched into each pencil. Perhaps that it says? Not 100% sure. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Should be priced better *by on Reviewed in India 5 December 2019* Expensive ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pen *by on Reviewed in Australia 4 June 2025* Good ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A nice affordable choice. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 10 February 2026* The wood on the ones I got is a little rough in places. Nothing crazy just needed a rub with a cloth. But other than that they are really quite nice. The wood feels good, the cores are well centered and they sharpen with no issues. The lead is a touch darker than a European hb. The quality is good overall, eraser is great. And it's cool they are from recycled wood too.
