I had ordered this canner then found a cheaper one at a local store so I bought the cheaper one and tried to cancel this order. But, they said it couldn't be cancelled so I thought ok, I will not open it and just return it. But when it arrived my husband said to just keep it and I'm so glad I did! It's bigger than the cheapy I bought, holds more jars and is much more sturdy and heavy duty!!! As they say, you get what you pay for. Used this one for the first time today and I love it !! Thanks for not cancelling my order!! :)

I bought this to use with my glass top stove. Living in an apartment means I don't have a choice in the type of cooktop, so while canning on a glass top stove is not ideal, it is possible. This canner is quite large. I have only used it once to can peaches in pint jars. It takes a lot of water to fill up and is quite heavy when full. Since I was using s glass top stove, it took an incredibly long time to come up to boiling point, but that is to be expected. The rack is probably my favorite part, but it is also a frustration point. The handles collapse inward when you lower the jars down. It would be nice to have some type of hool to retrieve them from the water. I had to get creative to get it lifted back out. Also, be sure to balance your jars carefully on the rack when you are starting to load it. If it gets off balance, it will tip to the side and drop the jar into the canner. I started by putting one in the center, then one in the center of each handle, and then filled in the rest. It seemed to work all right that way.

I bought this because I needed a water bath canner with a flat bottom so I could use it on my glass top stove. It works like a charm! I love that the lid is glass, & it has a vent hole. It is a huge pot! It is solid, but it's not so heavy that I was scared about using it on the glass top stove. The jar lifter basket works perfectly also. It holds 12 half pints. I used it for my very first canning of jam. This would also be perfect for that huge pot of chili, beans, or spaghetti for those big family gatherings.

I am so glad I waited until I used this to write a review, because it looked beautiful and felt to be heavy gauged enough for canning. However, the very first time I used it, the cladding on the bottom of the pot buckled outward and started to separate, rendering it utterly useless. Also, the basket does not stay lifted on the handles, even with just 4 jars and, after just that one use, it looks to be corroding. DO NOT BUY THIS CANNER. you have been warned.

I gave this canner 4 stars because I think it's the best you'll be able to find for a glass top at this price point. I've canned a few batches now and I haves decent review to share with you. First the bad news: I would not recommend quart jars AT ALL. As other reviewers have mentioned the lid doesn't seal so when the water level is boiling high enough to cover quarts water escapes under it. So, water was falling all over my range as I was trying to save my jars. The rack is not great and the handles kept falling and knocking over my smaller jars during the sanitizing process. Good news! You can easily remove them and the problem is solved. Another reviewer mentioned how long it takes to boil, which I faced as well the first time. To correct that I put piping hot water from my faucet in to start and it takes a normal amount of time to boil. For pints size jars and smaller this has been a great canner and I've been really pleased.

This is quite a large and effective water bath canner! I really like its double duty as a regular huge cooking pot as well. The canner includes a jar rack that hooks onto the side of the pot while loading and lowers easily into the pot. I just have to learn how to keep sides of the rack from falling into the center where the jars are (I'm new to canning). The first pot I received was not packaged well and had a dent in the lid. I communicated with the seller who shipped another canner out to me immediately. The new one was packaged very well and arrived in perfect shape. I recommend this canner, although it's very large (and it's probably for the best).

So the Stainless 21.5 QT Water Bath Canner is awesome! I have really been enjoying using the POT. I went from several different sizes of Granite-ware Canners to this one. I love stainless steel. But, here's the thing...the jar rack is impossible. I'm so annoyed with it I am finally writing a review. I burn myself almost every time (weekly) I use this canner with this rack. The rack is flimsy. It's not the right shape for the pot. The handles themselves are always falling into the boiling water. I scared myself today thinking I was going to drop the whole load when I actually picked up this flimsy rack, loaded with 9 pts of pickles, to move it from the stove to the table. Seriously! I could hardly make that short trip with the jars intact. I would like to purchase another rack unless the company has fixed this problem and would like to send me one for free. If not, I would still like to purchase another rack that would fit. Can anybody help me out with that problem?

Needed a new canning kettle and this is incredible, especially at this price! I process 200+ quarts a year and raise organic poultry- I first used this to make a huge batch of broth for freezing. Took a 20 lb. cut up turkey with no problem at all. Glass lid is the best too! Love that I can see when the water is ready for processing and to make sure it stays at a boil. Arrived quickly and exceeded my expectations. Glad I ignored the negative reviews, none were applicable to the pan I received. I look forward to using this regularly and so far have been pleased. The enamel type last only 2 years under heavy use....and cost the same or more than this one. I am very happy with this purchase and expect it will last a long time.

I used it for water bath canning! I bought it instead of the regular blue canners that will eventually rust and get holes. I can also use it for other purposes. Was easy to clean.
