Priceless
Bought this book as I am training to run the London Marathon in April 2024. Still have a month to go but so far the book and training plan has been brilliant, easy to follow and very encouraging. 2 long runs to go then taper before the real thing.

Perfect insight and motivational read
As a novice 1st time marathon entrant ordered this book on recommendation. Glad I did as I have found it very helpful and informative. Love all the little tips and insight, the training plan is easy to follow and very motivating and diary like submissions are fun. Am only at day 21 but am enjoying every minute. Definitely recommend.

Useful for us Older folk who prefer a book to an online training plan!
Bought a copy each for hubby and myself. We are really enjoying using it. Yes, you can go online and download a plan. But this feels more ... 'real'.... Obviously, we haven't gotten all the way through it yet, but it feels sensible and useful and the tuning is not as onerous as the plans that work around the miles covered rather than the time ran.The reason I have dropped a star is the repetitiveness of the entries and personally, I feel that in order to start with this plan, you do need to be able to slowly jog at least for 30 minutes as it very quickly gets to that stage in week 2.let's see if we manage to make it all the way through the book and to a marathon .....

Worked for me
I loved this book and have recommended it to friends. I filled the journal in every night, came to the suggestions and advice with an open mind, followed the training and completed London last weekend.I thought it was a fabulous step by step walk through my first marathon prep, and am so grateful for the experience shared along the way. A fair few lessons that would have taken me time to learn the hard way otherwise! The tip with useful things ever bought for running confirmed what I’d been thinking about things I need…and don’t need.In my view you could still get a lot from this journal/book while following a different marathon training plan as it’s a useful benchmark for training sessions to make sure you’re getting all the miles and rest in, as well as keeping you focused and reminding you to take some time away from your prep. I’m really happy I bought this book.
