Booby Moon is a beautifully illustrated rhyming storybook specifically designed to emotionally support both mother and child for weaning from breastfeeding. Weaning doesn’t have to be all tears, tantrums and heart ache. It can be an exciting, heartwarming, and beautiful experience to treasure. A chance to celebrate a milestone reached, honour the journey thus far and acknowledge this special time for both mother and child. Most weaning storybooks introduce the concept that breastfeeding will be ending soon. Booby Moon does that, but so much more. It gives toddlers: A magical story they connect with. A celebration to look forward to. Evidence of Booby Milk leaving. A beautiful ritual to help them say goodbye. In the same way that the Tooth Fairy makes children happy about their teeth falling out, looking forward to seeing Booby-milk-magic fly away to Booby Moon can give the same wondrous joy to a weaning toddler. Our experience using Booby Moon for weaning our boob-mad 2-year-old was incredible. After we said goodbye to Booby Milk, he simply accepted that it was gone. He still asked for it occasionally but whenever he did we reminded him of how we had let it go and there were no complaints, no pleading, no tears. Instead, excitement and joy would rush to his little face and he would say, “Yeah, I let go! And Booby went shhhhheewww up to the moon!” Booby Moon is special because it has a magical element that appeals to the child and also sets up a beautiful ritual to complete the breastfeeding journey. Studies show the practice of ritual during times of loss alleviates grief, makes us feel closer to our families and helps us to say goodbye. The ritual aspect of the Booby Moon process helps mother and toddler find an easeful acceptance for Booby Milk going away – with the child seeing the magic leave with their own eyes. The story also brings comfort post weaning, offering reassurance that the relationship continues; you can still wave up to Booby Moon and Mumma will still be here to offer love, cuddles and comfort. Look up to the moon, isn’t it amazing? Doesn’t it seem magical already? Half the work is done for us right there. Book also includes a gentle-parenting user guide that covers: how to wean using Booby Moon, night weaning prior, breaking the fed-to-sleep habit and various options for a meaningful goodbye ritual. The concept was created in 2020 by a breastfeeding mother who was ready to wean but could not find a children's book on the market that offered her toddler an upside to their impending loss. Using the 'Booby Moon' story was such an easy and beautiful experience that it needs to be shared with parents around the world. Suitable age range: Toddlers. 18months - 4 years. *Book features an illustration of a mother cuddling her toddler to sleep instead of nursing them at night (bed-sharing). **Book also features depiction of a balloon release - please search for "Booby Moon with Bubbles" if you'd prefer the new edition which features eco-friendly bubbles depicted instead. ***Books are printed on demand by desertcart. Has also been lovely to return to now we have had a new baby to remind toddler why he doesn't need booby milk anymore but tiny baby does. Review: Such a beautiful, magical book - Booby Moon is a truly beautiful and comforting book that made our weaning journey feel gentle, meaningful, and full of love. As a parent, I was very nervous about weaning my 2.5-year-old son and worried it might be a traumatic or upsetting experience for us both. This book completely changed that for us. Booby Moon helped turn what felt like an emotional unknown into something magical and poignant. It gave us the language and space to explore the different feelings that can come with weaning, while also honouring our breastfeeding journey with gratitude and tenderness. Reading it together allowed both my son and me to reflect, feel reassured, and move through the transition feeling connected and secure. I am so grateful for this book and would wholeheartedly recommend it to any parent approaching weaning who wants the process to feel calm, respectful, and full of love.

Fantastic support to weaning
I cannot recommend this book enough! It turned something I was dreading in to a lovely memory making experience for me and my little one. Building up to my daughter’s 2nd birthday I had decided I wanted to wean her. She was still waking through the night to feed and had a very strong association with feeding and sleep. I was very apprehensive about weaning her! I started reading booby moon 3 weeks prior to when we intended to stop. She loved the story and asked to read it multiple times a day (something she’s never done before) before long she was joining in with the story and finishing off the sentences. She started talking about booby moon throughout the day and I would repeat the sentiment that after her birthday booby milk would fly away to the moon. I started by night weaning and told her booby milk is asleep and won’t wake up. She was quite upset by this for about 7 days then would quietly accept a cup of milk instead. By the 3 weeks she had a very strong understanding of what was going to happen. She said, “after my birthday booby milk fly away in sky.” We followed the books suggestions and we had last booby and then we found the moon through the window and instead of releasing a balloon we blew a handful of glitter in to the sky. I bought her a colour changing moon lamp and told her it was a present from booby moon. She absolutely loves it. She has not once asked for booby milk since. She regularly talks about booby moon and talks about blowing booby milk in to the sky. But she has not been upset or even asked for booby milk at all since! Last night (about 2 weeks after weaning) she said, “little babies have booby milk tonight.” A Version of the line from the book. Since weaning she’s started sleeping through the night which is absolutely unheard of for her having only had about 5 nights where she’s slept through combined in her 2 years prior! I was very emotional about weaning and booby moon is an emotional read. But it not only helped my daughter to emotionally prepare for the next step but myself! By the time we were ready to say bye bye to booby milk I felt ready too. An amazing book and I cannot rate it high enough! Thank you thank you thank you!

Lovely really helped
Was overly keen on some of the wording, however each to their own. I changed the parts I didn't like. This is such a lovely book. The pic of the little girl smiling melts my heart every time. I can honestly say this has changed our lives. My co sleeper is now being put to sleep with no crying and will wait till I allow her to have boob. I will adapt wording of the story again when it's time to say goodbye forever but for now baby just has boob when the sun comes up and although she still wakes looking for it in the night settling her is a dream. Thanks so much

I bought this book because I wanted to wean my 2 year old around her birthday. The story is so lovely, it actually made me really emotional the first couple of times we read it. Highly recommend, my little one lives this story and often still grabs it from her bookshelf and asks for us to read it even thiugh shes been fully weaned for 4 months now!

A perfect end to our feeding journey
I love this book, so much. I've been reading it every night for the last month with my almost 2 year old, and tonight we had our final feed, then took our 'magic balloon' outside to send back up to the booby moon. I've been so anxious about weaning but the experience we've had with reading the book, and then releasing our balloon tonight, has been so incredibly positive and beautiful. The story itself is lovely, we just skipped the page about the birthday party as it didn't fit our plans. My little boy has been saying "magic fly" and "bye bye booby milk" for the last couple of weeks, and tonight he was an absolute star, he let go of the balloon himself, waved it off and was so pleased with the whole adventure. One thing to note is that if you're planning to wean in the middle of summer, you will need to adjust bedtime a bit to make sure a) it's actually dark and b) the moon is actually visibly in the sky. Turns out it's not up there every night, as I'd always assumed! But with a bit of forward planning it worked out well. I had also debated about releasing a balloon at all (because of the environmental factor) but decided that one balloon is not unreasonable, and it was important for us that the experience matched the pictures in the book. I'll be recommending this book to any friends looking to wean their toddlers in the future.

It works!
I bought this book well in advance of weaning my daughter, I was determined to make it as gentle a process as possible. We read this book on and off for a while and then consistently 3 months prior to her 2nd birthday. My daughter didn't show signs that she was willing to drop the final two feeds and I didn't want to force it for the sake of a deadline I'd imposed so anticipated that we'd continue a while longer, however, the day after her birthday we saw the moon in the sky, she said it was booby moon and told me she doesn't need booby milk anymore. It's been a week now, she has asked on and off but begrudgingly agrees that the booby milk is back in the moon ready to be given to new babies! I really don't think the process would've been as gentle and successful as it has been without this book. Thank you!

Bit Meh.
Nothing exceptional in the contents of this so not really sure it was worth the investment to purchase it. However, there wasn't anything significantly wrong either. If you prefer a book, buy it, but you can also just research online and tell a similar story (and others already out there)

Highly recommend 10/10
This book is beautifully written for mom and child. I tried a few different books with my 2 yr old and this is the only weaning one that stuck. My favorite part is that it has a special balloon release ceremony, which turns something that might feel sad into something magical-like the tooth fairy. I think it’s best for a child turning 2 or older. I started reading it to my child around turning 2 and as the book shows their birthday tied in with the occasion, I correlated it with the following birthday-so we spent nearly a year enjoying the book leading up to the the big day. Additionally, the book offers some journaling type pages in it and some weaning tips for mom!

Nice Concept
Nice concept and bought this to wean my toddler. Eventhough she took her own time to wean, thai book gave her some ideas about kids stop having breastmilk gradually and they find comfort in other things or it's okay kinda message. She was not emotionally ready to wean during that time. So I let her continue. But gradually everytime I remind her about this story and it helped later

Helped in weaning toddler.
Read this book to my 2 year old when I decided to wean him. Took a while for him to understand but I did feel it helped a little bit reading it every night. It took us about 2 weeks to almost a month for him to stop breastfeeding, but now he sleeps well at night without any wakes. We did have to hug/cuddle/hold hands at bedtime for him to sleep. Book illustrations are very nice and the book quality is nice and smooth. It is a soft cover book not hard cover.

Amazing Milk Day celebration
This helped me wean my toddler completely at 23 months. She was ready, albeit emotional, as was I. Of note we let the balloons go during the day time as we didn't want to stay awake until 9:30-10pm when the moon was visible, and it still had the same results. We said goodbye booby moon at about 5pm and let some balloons go. And it went really well. My daughter has asked for booby here and there, but is ok with the answer.. we let booby milk go back to booby moon remember? It was a beautiful way to end the breastfeeding chapter, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Thank you for this book! It was a life saver and gave me some lovely memories of her milk day. I got my daughter some comforting, soft stuffed animals to keep close to make the transition easier. Although I am grieving the loss of breastfeeding and my daughter getting older, I'm very happy and proud of how it all went.
