T7 Portable SSD 2TB - Up to 1050MB/s - USB 3.2 External Solid State Drive, Gray (MU-PC2T0T/AM)

Recently bought a new Mac so couldn’t understand why it was taking sooooo long for photos to upload, switch between albums and edit. A friend recommended the Samsung T7 which has been a lifesaver! Super quick, I couldn’t be more pleased, everything is now instant and I am one happy lady! Definitely recommend the T7

I purchased this external drive after having problems with other brands of drives . It is perfect for using with a laptop computer; especially when travelling. I had also purchased a case for it for travelling and so far, I have been happy with it. The drive arrived in good time and was securely packaged.

I use this as an external SSD to edit my videos using Final Cut Pro with. It's not as fast as the internal SSD on my Macbook, but it's fast enough not to get the spinning beach ball at any point.

Amazon cocked up and sent a 1TB SSD instead of the 2TB SSD ordered. The price for the replacement then went up by £8.64. Hardly seems like a fair deal.

Light and easy

I bought the Samsung T7 2TB portable SSD mainly to give my older 2017 Mac a new lease on life. The internal 500GB platter style hard drive drive in that machine was painfully slow, so I set up macOS to run directly off the T7. The difference was night and day — boot times dropped to seconds, apps opened almost instantly, and overall the computer felt like a brand-new machine. Honestly, it sped things up exponentially compared to the stock drive. Beyond that, the T7 has been great for general storage and file transfers. It’s small, lightweight, and built solid with its aluminum casing, so I don’t worry about tossing it in my bag. Transfer speeds are fast enough that moving large projects doesn’t feel like a chore anymore, and I haven’t had any reliability issues. It also stays cool during everyday use, which isn’t always the case with portable SSDs. Compared to the older external hard drives I used before, this is in another league for both speed and portability. Against other portable SSDs, I think Samsung’s combination of performance and reliability is hard to beat at this price point. If you have an older computer that’s slowing you down, or you just need fast and dependable storage on the go, the T7 is an excellent choice. For me, it completely transformed the usability of my Mac and has become a tool I use every single day.

I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of those USB – C SSD by Samsung. This model supports USB 3.2 GEN 2. However my MacBook Stone Age model only supports USB 3.0. Despite that, performance is excellent. The drive is about 40% full and still performs the way it did when it was new. I did have to format it once when I first had it; I don’t remember if I installed a firmware update or not. But when I first got the drive, after using it for a short time, performance dropped significantly. A reformat, maybe a firmware update, and the drive has been flawless since. It is small, lightweight, and Portable. It does get a touch warm but I never had to worry about it overheating. Wakes from sleep quickly. I use it as an external drive to supplant my iTunes and movie library. In that regard, it works excellent.
