I used the vintage one for Kombucha, but because it is tapered and wider at the top the scoby pushes out of the tea when the level drops and is prone to infection, so make sure you get one that has a consistent diameter.

I see below it says the tap is plastic, but the description says it's stainless steel - which is it?

Plastic. It is ok just be aware due to the fact that it has no vent holes and physics the lid needs to be open for the tap to work. This somewhat limits its use (i.e I was going to use it for kids juice at family BBQ and with the lid open wasps climb in)

Can this be used for warm drinks- specifically, mulled wine at Christmas?
