Nexqua Dew ceramic shells are fitted with an activated carbon block insert containing lead removal media. Microns are a size measurement of the pore size, so the smaller the number, the tighter the filter. One-micron filters are for drinking water only. In general, they are too tight to filter large amounts of water without slowing the flow to unacceptable levels. These Ceramic Candles are manufactured with state of the art technology. These Candles have small microns in it and they can filter the water with ease without stopping the flow from the above container to the below container. I got these as a replacement of the original candle filers
There seems to be a flaw in the way the metal housing is attached to the ceramic candle, as the previous units tends to get loose at the base when they are being washed/cleaned.
