Music Class Today!

This is a very cute book, but it is not written for US schools as I was hoping. It would be more appropriate for a private after-school class.

I bought this book for my public school music classes to enjoy. However, I can’t show it to them because there is a picture of a woman openly breastfeeding with her full boob out. Why does that have to be in a music book? This is why I proofread every book beforehand.

I purchased this for my kindergarteners and they loved it. It’s funny, the illustrations pop, and it’s perfect for the first time the come to a music class.

I am a Montessori music teacher and bought this book to read to my classes. This book does not at all apply to how a Montessori music class would be run and I found the children's behavior in the book to be inappropriate modeling for children who might read the book. For instance, there is a child yawning rudely during the hello song, children kicking their shoes into the air across the room, a child putting the rhythm sticks IN HIS MOUTH like walrus tusks, children fighting over a scarf, a child totally asleep on the floor during a counting song, and children running around and chasing each other while the teacher plays guitar. If your idea of a great music class is complete unorganized chaos, then this book is for YOU. If you like children to listen and participate and use the materials you provide properly, this is a book to avoid.

This is a great book. I am a music teacher and have used it many times in class. You can also go on line and find the audio file of the songs.

A great book. My kids love it.

This is a cute book, but it is written for a fairly specific purpose - it depicts a music class for preschoolers that the parents attend. (Parents are not depicted on the cover of the book). I mean, the message about joining in when you feel ready is good, but it won't be very useful for my elementary school music class.

It’s a perfect option for the first day of music class. The story, the draws and the music are incredible!!!!
