Review: I love this square. For me, a 6 inch Combination Square is more useful than a 12 inch Combination Square because I am a wood crafter and I work in small pieces of wood. I have a number of Igaging tools and they are all excellent and affordable. I live in Palm Beach County Florida and my shop is in my 2 car garage. There is a lot of humidity down here. The head is made from Alloy Steel and it will rust if you don't protect it from moisture. Try coating it with a small amount of 3 in 1 oil. The blade doesn't rust. It is also very easy to read. This combination square is perfectly accurate and square. Some people have complained that it isn't square. Mine is perfect right from the beginning. Some people have complained that the head doesn't slide smoothly on the blade. I had that problem at first. I used a drop of 3 in 1 oil and some fine steel wool along the groove. That resolved the issue. I now have a second Igaging 6 inch combination square. I have one at my bench and the other in my work apron. I wouldn't be able to afford 2 Starrett 6 inch combination squares. Get this square. It is really close in quality to a Starrett at a much lower price.
Review: A fantastic little square for the money. Compared it to my more expensive counterpart, which cost about four times as much and just about as square.

As I slowly start stepping up my Woodworking game I need more accurate tools. The combo square I bought at a second hand shop 6 years ago was never very accurate and the casting on tbe holder was aluminum. So not wanting to spend over $100 for a Starrett I though a mid grade square will do and if I like it I'll eventually get a few other sizes types. With that said, I'm on the fence with this one. As for fit and finish it is nice. The biggest thing is outta the box it is fairly accurate but that depends on how critical you are. I'd say it was off by about .002, maybe more, maybe less. This can be fixed and I am not worried about it. What I don't like is when you pull the ruler out of the base/holder, good luck getting it back in. You have to use a small nail or screwdriver or similar to move the little piece inside the grove to line up with the grove of the ruler. Even still it is a royal pain to line up. Not a quick task by any means. Part of what makes it so difficult is there is only a few threads that grab on the set screws. One 1/4 turn too many and it comes out. Worth the money? Sure, but there may be better options. Who knows, maybe I got a defective one. -TJ
