Sea Horse 1/2 HP Pump

After installing, discovered that I must have had a 1/3 hp pump for my pond in the past as the this one does draw more power. The old pump I could not start and stop reliably. This one works great, now I shut it down during the night and few hours during the day. This has more than made up or any power increase and provides a more reliable flow.I recommend this pump for ponds. Will update if I encounter problems.

I have a 3000 gallon koi pond and am disappointed in this pump. As long as I don't have to draw more than a foot vertically through a 3 inch pipe it works fine and will self prime, however after doing a partial water change the water level dropped to about 21/2 feet. It was not able to maintain water flow from that point. Hopefully it will work after filling the pond back up. This is the first pump I bought from this manufacturer and will be the last for my pond. So if you're looking for a good pond pump for a Koi pond, skip this one.

This pump was a replacement. I had the Sea Horse 1/6 HP for about 18 years. Finally it died. The new one is identical to my old one, just a bigger motor. I am using it for a pond and stream. This one is much more powerful. The water actually rushes now almost like a mountain stream. I love it.
