Soul Sista

This brother has style and talent. I am a HUGE FAN OF D'ANGELO and initially thought Soul Sista was either his work or someone trying to sound like him. However, after reading more about Bilal, I understand this guy has been on the scene for some time. I definitely want to hear more from him and look forward to his CD when it comes out.

Even though this was an older song; I feel in love with this soulful groove when I went to a taping of the Steve Harvey television show in Chicago. It was played during a commercial break. What a wonderful experience it was! He was really grooving to it as well!

A mixture of the funk and flow of d angelou, with a mix of a soft love sick ballard. I really enjoyed this single, and being one who really doesn't usuall spend the money bying singles i was pleasently surprized. i wait to hear some from this cat as interscope will release his cd soon!!! Philadelphia promises to produce some real interesting artist, if this is an indication....

I love this song, but if his album is anything like the songs that I got off napster, he definitely needs to go back into the studio and re do his whole album. Don't get me wrong, I'm feeling his work on Common Sense album and a couple of his songs, but, this guy is mega talented and I know his sound is more polished than musiq's. He can blow and I don't think what I heard was his best or even close to a valient effort. His voice is tighter than musiq's, anyone who has studied voice and music theory can see, but Musiq's album is going to be much tighter if he doesn't go back into the lab. In a recent interview in a magazine, Musiq stated himself that his album was somewhat rushed. Music lovers have really been waiting for this album, and I think that he should have put more work into it than he did. Sometimes, Your love sent to me, and Soul Sista are banging, but, All that I am, Home is where I wanna be, Hand me down, and Love poems don't come close to showing his true talent. I'm waiting for the album patiently hoping that he comes correct. If you have been following neo soul then you would know in 95 there was an artist by the name of Frankie, album ( My heart belongs to you) Chcky Thmpson of Bad Boy Prod. Musiq's voice resembles his. Frankie got no airplay, and his album was toooooooooo tight. No dis to Musiq because he is tight, I just want to give others their just do. Come Correct Bilal or don't come at all

I was getting dressed this morning and the sound of the song made me turn around, look at the boob tube and take notice. Okay, so what, I almost fell while I was putting on my stockings. Catching a good groove will knock you off your feet....(giggle).The video??....SPLENDID!! The music??..DELICIOUS!!! It was so good, I bought the single on my morning break and for me..that says a lot. I don't buy singles.In regard to his sound, I'm not gonna say the obvious..that would be too easy, but, was that Amir (?uestLove) Thompson in the video? Can you say SOULTRONICS? If so, I do believe that we are in for a TREAT, TREAT, TREAT, as just about every piece of music they touch these days, turns out to be a combination of the best day you ever had, a warm bubble bath with candles, a sensual back rub, a cup of warm herbal tea, and hmmm...well, you know..(giggle).If this is any indication of what is to come from Bilal, then we have a winner on our hands, folks. I say, I say..lets greet him with open arms.ONE WOMAN'S ADVICE: BUY THE SINGLE...and wait with me and countless others for the CD. I'll be sure to tap the keys when it comes out.***Let's stop accepting mediocrity as an artform...buy this single and let your voice be heard.

The first time I EVER heard of Bilal was when he opened for Erykah Badu when she was on tour. He totally blew me away with his voice and the style of his music. I had come in after he had started, and imagine how I looked asking everybody around me who this guy was. I found out after the concert when they passed out the flyers for the after party, and believe you me, it was on...I knew I had to get his record. I finally found it here and when I received it I played the mess out of that single, the way that he makes you want more with his snippets for other songs on his CD is ridiculous! The original release date was the end of March and I had my money in hand ready to get it, but now they have pushed it back to May 15th, if you haven't heard the single yet, you are really missing out. This new group of neo soul artists are really are treat for your ear.

I read below how one reviewer hoped Bilal was not a one hit wonder. Well I can tell you he is not. Just listen to Common's album like water for Chocolate. He is on track 6 with Jill Scott another great new talent as well as tracks 9, 10. He is also on track 5 of Guru's jazzamataz volume 3 which is my favorite Bilal jam to date. He is bonifide. He works with common the roots and Guru some of the best in the biz and has already worked with Jill scott. His full lenth LP should drop soon and look for him to rival Badu and D'angelo for pipes and soulful hip hop/r&b. Watch the emergence of a new star.

DWill from NYC.. man youre dead wrong about the 'advance' Bilal album (the 8 mp3s you got off of napster). Of course those are rough tracks, unfinished or whatever.. but they are extremely soulful r&b tracks coming from a rare new talent that is just gonna blow the scence up. No songs have have enveloped me like Bilal's since i first heard Adrianna Evans. "Sometimes" "Home Is Where I wanna Be" and "Your Love Sent to Me" are classic cuts that put me moods that no other songs can. Maybe I'm feeling Bilal so hard because im the same age as him, I dont know.. just give those tracks another listen or two, they'll grow on you and you'll be fiending for more. I know am. peace
