Exactly what I was looking for
Perfect for teaching and doing simple observations I recommend making the slit even more narrow by using black tape. By making the opening thinner, you can get better resolution at the cost of overall brightness. Doing this, I was able to see some fraunhofer lines in the sky (reminder - do not ever look directly at the sun)

A lot of money for 5 cardboard cubes with special transparent paper.
Of the 6 tubes, one of them was defective. The special lens was pinched and glued in so I couldn't remove and flatten it.

The price point makes this product viable even for a preschool classroom. Introducing kids to the concept of properties of light is an integral part of education. These are basic cardboard tubes with a small diffraction piece clamped on with an removable cap at both ends. It's fairly easy for the kids to take off the cap/eyepiece at both ends and lose the diffraction piece hence four stars instead of five.

A little tweak and you are ready
This is an inexpensive and fast way to teach a class about how light is emitted, absorbed, reflected by different materials. Before handing it off to students you may want to ensure the slit is aligned with the grating and apply a piece of tape or a dab of hot glue. Align by rotating until you see this pattern on the inner wall of the tube: | | | | | <= correct \\\\ <= not there yet ----- <= wrong

For high school activities.
My high school students really appreciated having the spectroscopes to perform the line emmisions test. I love the construction of the tubes.

Great for handling out for a STEM class
If you don't want to make your own, these are great for handling out.

Defective
I received the spectrometers in the time I was told. But they came in with issues. One has the same end on both sides no film sheet. Another has the film sheet, but it is snipped on one end and does not cover the hole. I needed these for a lab today and I bought the least amount possible due to money. I was disappointed I did not get equipment I needed. Now I only have 4 I can use and I have had to cut my lab back. I now have to find another company so I can order more that I don’t have the money to buy. As well as pay over night shopping. #Frustratedteacher.
