Momcozy Retractable Easy-to-Use Mesh Baby Gate

I recently installed the Retractable Baby Gate in my home, and it's been a game-changer for child safety. I was pleasantly surprised this product turned out so perfectly. I have cats and dogs, but I purchased it for the dogs. Between the kitchen and the living room I needed a barrier but then also from time to time I would like a barrier from the living room to the hallway that leads to the bedrooms. And so this product is excellent because it allows for two locking mechanisms. At first I didn’t believe it could be true but it is true. The actual retractable barrier is mounted on the fulcrum or center post that pivots the two doorways I needed blocked. So with two sets of locks included I could mount one on the living room and kitchen wall side and then I could mount the other on a perpendicular living room wall that then blocks the entrance to the hallway. One gate used multiple ways. I believe this solves the problem I had completely. I am very grateful and I highly recommend. However, I must say that without trained dogs you may witness their creative nature try to squeeze under the gate. It’s flexible and see through and honestly not completely impossible to escape if they are small dogs, my cats go under it all the time especially to escape the dogs in a hurry. Good news is the gate is not affected by the cats bursting under it and my dogs are trained enough to respect the gate. I know the dogs can bust out of it, and I think they probably do too but for the most part they stay where they are without disobeying the gate being closed on a room. I am so glad, It cuts down on a lot of frustration and accidents that used to happen before. Another perk is it matches perfectly with the beige on my walls. So it’s hardly noticeable and it’s easily retracted back out of the way and out of sight really. I love it and I recommend to anyone looking for something they can use in this way.

I bought this to keep our big dog from being able to access our little dog’s food bowl. So it was actually the goal for her to be able to go under it and it works perfectly for that purpose. If I had needed a gate to keep a small dog or child (our toddler also crawls under it) out of an area, this wouldn’t have really worked easily because of our baseboards. It would have been difficult to install low enough to keep smaller beings from going under it. Just something to keep in mind! For our purposes, it’s great. It rolls out and in smoothly. Our 5 year old is able to operate it from both sides (another big factor for us). I love that when we don’t need it, it’s not in the way or an eyesore. We’ve had it almost 2 years and it’s still in perfect condition.

Sturdy and easy to use, can be used quickly with one hand

Great once installed, but provided screws are prone to shearing. I think they’re a fragile zinc. I’ve had 3 now that sheared during install and I had to figure out how to remove. With stronger screws from hardware store this product works great.

Pros: Easy to use from either side, fits range of opening width, fully retracts well, can stay closed and not be locked, safe for outdoor use, right height for decks, attractive, multiple colors, removable base unit for off-season. Cons: tricky to install, requires drilling on both sides but doesn’t include template for where to drill, requires base pieces to be permanently installed on both sides of doorway, motivated dogs (and probably kids cunder 1) can inch under even when locked because of fabric design. We needed a deck gate to let our dog laze on our outdoor deck without a line getting tangled around deck furniture. It’s at the top of 3 outdoor steps. We needed something that easily opened and closed from both sides (not a pressure gate), was attractive (no plastics), durable for outside, easily removable for off-season, and could accommodate deck height (excluded most metal gates). I prefer the look of dark metal, but the only one we could find that met our requirements, was durable, and fit our deck opening was a very expensive, permanently installed metal gate with an extension. It was going to run around $300 or so. This is so much nicer once we were able to manually line up the drill holes. It’s so nice that it is barely noticeable when it’s not in use, something few gates can offer. It is about 4” or so fully retracted so we don’t bump into it when using the steps and elderly relatives don’t have a problem. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that with a click or two, the whole retracting unit removes leaving just 2 small plastic mounts on each side, so I don’t have to worry about snowy Northeastern winters or it coming off and damaging something during a hurricane. Our dog snuck under it once, but I don’t think he liked the experience especially since a step was immediately on the other side. I suspect he tumbled a little but didn’t see it. Perhaps if we’d installed it a little lower, but sometimes we just put a plant in front of it.

These instructions are TERRIBLE. All there is are pictures that don’t make any sense of how things are assembled. I followed the provided guide and it did not align straight. The provided screws are also HORRIBLE. They warp like no other. I had to use other screws I had at home. Once up the locking mechanism was nice. Not sure how long it will hold up against my toddler. Very disappointed for a mom cozy brand.

I love this baby gate we use it for our dogs to keep them out of the one side of our basement. It works wonders. Just mount this to the doorframe and you are good to go. it can be a little tricky getting the sides perfectly even to where they need to be but it's not too bad. just make sure you measure the sides of the door Fram in case one side is longer than the other like mine was and I had to adjust a few time before it was perfect. I like that the gate stays secure on the opposite side and there is a lock on it as well if you don't want anyone to open it at all. its not going to stop anything crazy but for smaller dogs or children it will keep them out of a room. I would not use this on a staircase for children as it will not stop them from falling down it as it's just a piece of fabric. All in all I would buy this again.

Gate is useful and have to observe proper locking when in use.
