You get what you pay for.....
This was my first time using a cookie press so I carefully read many of the reviews and tips for using it. We tried both sugar cookie dough and a cheese straw type dough. The reviews describing how to use it were extremely helpful since, as others have posted, it does not come with any directions. The reviews which state that the cookies are VERY thin and small are exactly right. I was disappointed that there was no way to adjust the size and thickness of the cookies. Also, I found that only a very few of the discs worked well. The others produced strange looking blobs or just didn't produce a cookie shape/size that I would have ever wanted. I did have to experiment with how cold to get the dough to obtain a consistency that worked with this press. I found that I did have to refrigerate the dough for best results. As others have stated, the only way to figure out what disc to use is to look at the box, which displays (not very large or clearly for those of us without perfect eyesight) the cookie shapes beside a picture of each disc. In many cases, I did not get a cookie shaped like the photo if the particular disc even worked to make a decent cookie at all. My rating is based on the fact that only a few of the discs actually worked to produce a decent shaped cookie and even those weren't consistent. We had to scrape off at least half of the cookies that came out and try again. A product that was supposed to make our cookies easier and prettier became a huge source of frustration and took us twice as long. I have already thrown this thing out and will look into some of the nicer, more expensive presses from higher end companies to find something that is more frustration-free and reliable. Bottom line - this was aggravating to use and did not produce the type/shape/size of cookies I would like to make. I would not recommend this product.

The holder of the template pops off.
I have tested 6 different cookie presses. Look at their rating:1. Kichon Cookie Press Kit with Silicone Baking Mat - 5/10 - A lot of dough left inside the tube, poor constructed piston, not stainless steel.2. Wilton Comfort Grip Cookie Press - 9/10 - Nice grip and a piston, the see-through cylinder.3. NuVita Cookie Press Set - 1/10 - The tube is very small, the plastic holder of the template pops off.4. Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press - 6/10 - The clear tube, but as for me it is cheaply made.5. Westmark Germany Multipurpose Stainless Steel Cookie Press and Piping Gun Decorating Kit with Recipes - 4/10 - looks and feels the same as #4, but have a metal tube. A lot of dough left inside the press under the template.6. OXO Good Grips Cookie Press with Stainless Steel Disks and Storage Case - 8/10 - Nice grip and a piston, the see-through cylinder. Very well made. I don't know why but the butterfly and the flower were almost impossible to press out nicely.

Child size Cookie press
The cookie press looked very nice, had several attachments but the plastic materials the press was made of close to the metal parts looked like it could break easily and everything in general, especially the tube that holds the dough was much smaller then expected. Even though I never actually used it, it appeared more child size then adult so cookies would be smaller and would take longer to get a batch of cookie dough pressed out! Unfortunately, I decided to return it for a refund.

I rarely leave bad reviews, but...
I had been baking cookies all day when this arrived and was excited to use it for spritz cookies. Made the first cookie with much difficulty and then started on the second one when the press broke in 3 places simultaneously. The plastic is weak and the cookie dough was soft. Such a disappointment...

don't waste your money
if you want this to make cookies, don't waste your money. the cheap plastic is great for frostings but for a stiffer spritz cookie dough, the plastic holding the template just pops off. It also comes with no directions so putting it together was challenging. I am sending mine back for a refund.

It did the job, but...
I was excited for this product since it seemed like my cookie press, but it had decorating tips (and seemed easier than a pasty bag), but it was difficult to control the flow of the frosting. The most unfortunate part was that it broke after the first round of frosting; the plunger cracked where it meets the metal control arm and it came off. It's still usable with an extra assembly step, and I could probably fix it with some food-safe adhesive, but it was inexpensive, so it's okay. Regretfully, I can't say I'd recommend it.

Cheaply made, broke on first use
Very cheaply made. Literally the first cookie I was pressing with it, the lower disc that presses the cookies into the dough cracked where it connects with the rod and broke. The Williams Sonoma product I had before held up well for over ten years. Proves that you get what you pay for!

Didn't work at all!
Almost worked, once. The end popped off every time we tried to express dough. Total disappointment!! Bought a Wilton one that seems to work just find. I would not recommend this product.
