Make it work brand new!
Exactly what I needed! I was able to program it myself within a minute. My last key stopped working and I would have to be right next to my car to lock it. I thought the whole car program was gone. However my last attempt was to get a new remote and I’ll be darn it works brand new!!! I am able to power on my car inside my work!!!

A challenge to program
This was intended to be a backup for my existing pendant for a system installed on my 2007 4Runner . Getting it to mate with my security system was quite a challenge! The directions that came with it were for two earlier pendant models, and Avital has not put a new manual on their web site since 2016. First, you must find your valet button. Per Google there are about seven different possible locations. It turned out that mine was on the antenna mounted on the glass by the rear view mirror. This meant that my system was pretty new. It also meant that the directions given for the latest pendant model were likely the ones that would work with this even later model pendant. If you have an older system, start with the oldest directions. If that doesn't work, go to YouTube or send it back to Amazon. Second, you must follow the directions VERY carefully, and very quickly. You have 5 seconds from the time you open the door and turn the ignition key on, to push the valet button. If it is a newer system, you push it once. If it is an older system, you push it 7 times. If it is a really old system, you may have to push it 9 times per YouTube. Once you do this initial step, then you push it again and hold it down, and wait for the pendant to beep, once, 7 times, or 9 times. Then you push the lock button on the pendant (while still holding the valet button down) and wait for a lot of noise from the car and the pendant. Then close the door, turn the ignition off, and try the pendant to see if actually works. It only took me 6 tries, three Google searches, two YouTubes and a lot of swearing to get there. Good luck.
