WEN BG4286 3-Amp 8-Inch Slow Speed Bench Grinder, Orange,black

I like that this grinder is bright orange, which makes it easier to find in my shop. But really, I like this grinder. I was looking for an affordable option in a low-speed grinder and despite some bad reviews, this grinder works great for me. Why a low-speed grinder you ask? Mostly because I am using it exclusively to sharpen lathe chisels that each cost more than this tool. Less speed means less damaging heat and less wear on those expensive Carter and Sons bowl gouges! Now, if I were a smarter man I would have anticipated the purchase of a CBN wheel nwhen looking for a grinder and considerd one of those grinder/CBN wheel packages which would be like buying two wheels and getting a free grinder. Live and learn! It is a great grinder though, Runs smooth and quiet and when I turn it off it takes a while to spin down which to me means well balanced and good bearings, Two things that will contribute to a long lasting tool.

Wonderful grinder. I only had a slight problem with it. I bought it for sharpening lathe tools, and when I replaced the fine abrasive wheel with an expensive diamond one, it wobbled. I replaced the stamped cup washer that came with the grinder to hold the wheel on with a machined washer, and bingo, wobble gone. It runs very smooth, and the bearing are so good, it takes minutes to stop. I really like it!

It’s worth every penny’s . This low speed grinder is worth to buy I installed CBN sharpening wheels on it and it works flawlessly . It has power to do all my sharpening and the low speed kinds are the best to go for it . It comes with grinding wheels 60 g. And 120g. Also some small jigs to attach to it and magnifier lens . Well priced and it works great .

I had to wait until Monday morning for the manufacturer to open and called first thing in the morning because the tool rest arm was slightly bent out of the package. I was expecting the worst oversea outsourced service ever, but they were super easy to deal with. I was in shock and awe that the person who answered the phone was actually in the united states, spoke English well and was familiar with the product. I explained the problem and the only question asked was "Whats your address?". It was such an easy encounter that I decided to push my luck and ask about whether he was the person to ask if there was the tool rest without a v-groove that I could order for the other side of the grinder. He put me on hold for 30 seconds and came back saying that he was going to send me a flat tool rest from another grinder that he thought would work fine at no charge for my trouble. After expecting the worst, I hung up the phone absolutely elated and ran into my shop to prepare a space for my new grinder with a feeling of confidence that I have found a company willing to stand behind their tools. The Grinder itself seems very good and sturdy for the inexpensive price I paid. I will try to update this review after Ive used it a while.

Nice entry level slow speed grinder. Easy to use. Works well with my sharpening system. Easy to assemble. I have several Wen tools in my woodshop and am very happy with all of them.

It perfectly sharpens my wood lathe tools, axes, knives, scissors, and drill bits. It is well-built and quiet. It comes assembled except for a couple of things which are easy to attach. It has plenty of power and is big enough to do anything I want, yet small enough to fit in my small wood shop. Plenty of bang for your buck.

I just got this and set it up. The wheels seem to be turning fine with no wobble. Managed to get the pieces assembled with no issue (after I oriented myself). The instructions are ok, it was me. It fires up smoothly. It does take a while to stop spinning after it is turned off, just for reference. Also, and I think this is an issue with most any grinder, accessing bolts or screws to secure the unit on a bench can be a challenge due to close quarters. You may need to be creative. But I figured out a solution in my case so life is good. I've typically seen good reviews of Wen products so didn't really hesitate to pick up this grinder. I intend to use it for sharpening lathe chisels. The grinder is definitely heavy so I don't expect to get much issue with vibration. There are rubber feet as well.

This unit is just what I needed. Easily mounted onto a work bench, comes with about 1.5m of power cable. Runs smoothly and quietly. 120 grit wheel is great for putting an edge back on many tools. WEN 4286 8-Inch Slow Speed Bench Grinder

I made this into a sanding station for intarsia wood art. So far, so good. Great price for a slow speed grinder too!

Très bonne meule mais pas mal plus grosse et lourde que je le pensais, surtout que je vis en appartement. Mais je l'ai gardé et elle m'est très utile. Si c'était à refaire je m'en trouverais une plus petite. Mais parfait pour les gros bricoleurs.
