A good read to get clarity on the career you want
I have been awaiting this book for quite a while and picked it right after it launched this week. It’s a fast read and I whizzed through it pretty soon.Jeff speaks about his own journey of moving from climbing the corporate ladder to becoming a Forever Employable consultant. This might not be for everyone but it is good to know that there are other options out there. There are a lot of myths around ‘thought leaders’ - do they know anything, when they do they even do what they preach, they must get to relax all the time because they work for themselves. Jeff answers to these questions are quite helpful.Every choice has its pros and cons. At the end of the day, the career choices we make must be guide by the kind of life we want for ourselves and our loved ones.I recommend reading this book especially for people in their 30s and 40s dealing with mid-life crisis 😅

Reminds you that you are Forever Employable!
As a person, about to turn 35 in August, your manuscript was breadcrumbs leading me from being uncertain and groping about in the dark to having a framework to plant my flag upon. The best aspect of your book is how pithy it is. You are remarkably aware of how long manuscripts with minute details end up being taxing; invariably, the book never gets fully read.Your writing style is precise and makes for a breezy yet impactful read. In spite of being a technical expert, you have ensured it is easy to follow and practice in real life!I believe the ideal target group for the book would be 35-year-olds who have grown and have their own identity, did what was expected of them while being completely sold on the 'work hard and it will all make sense' dream and have now woken up to realize something is amiss and this isn't how they wish to live anymore. While your book is relevant to an 18-year-old too, I guess the appreciation comes from the point that regular life has been lived and tested. So what drives one is the inexplicable need to reimagine oneself and create a different life!I loved the way it occurred to me as a design thinking way of living. To not, in enthusiasm drain out your resources or put all eggs in one basket; but start small, test it, get feedback, continuously work upon it and build upon it.Also, appealing to me was connecting with the experts in the field, asking them specific questions, being relevant each day, teaching, knowing when to monetize, knowing how to connect it back to your domain and while you are earning from it through the channel most relevant to you (in your case workshops), giving it back to society. I realized when you do so, you are creating your tribe who speak the same language, and propels the tribe to grow further.Could you write your second book, elaborating on failure stories? For at 35, I am somebody who is wary of failures and have an irrational fear of mockery and rejections when things don't happen as planned. How does one at this stage, after being someone, get back up after being knocked down? Relatable anecdotes would make it easier for the reader at this point. Otherwise, all achievers who skim over phases of failure occur as demigods with certain powers unknown to the masses. And usually, it is at this stage of un-relatedness that most give up. Maybe that could be a different series by itself! When I read the title for the first time, I thought it was for people who wished to be employed beyond retirement, now I know it is akin to a Life Book, being self-reliant and building your brand and freedom to be the best version of you!

Short, simple and inspiring
Jeff Gothelf may not have had to try too many times to finish this book, as was the case with his first one. But this book is the story of how he turned around his career to become self-employed. Don't expect some ground breaking new stuff that will propel you to success overnight. It reaffirms some mindsets with some tips and emphasises on a lot of grind. You can get access to some of the worksheets to go along with the book if you have proof of purchase. The only downside is that I wish there was more in the 'Do this now' section. For eg. there could have been more examples of filled in hypothesis and experiments along with different techniques of experiments.

A Must Read/Reference To Ready Your Personal Platform
It's an easy, well-structured read from start to finish and something I intend on using as reference material on my personal path to being forever employable myself. Jeff tells his story in a real and giving manner, equips the reader with a go-forward approach while leaving us with the feeling that we can do this and we are in this together!

Full of Actionable Advice
This is one of the best books I have read about building your personal brand and becoming a thought leader in your field, whatever that may be. It is realistic in that it presents that this is a long game, this book doesn't promise you that 6 months after creating your Wordpress site, that you will have people knocking down your door.A great book.

Concise, actionable advice
It's not bloated with stories but you can find interviews that Jeff has done on his blog. As such, the book is shorter and easier to go through. If you liked Lean UX then chances are you'll enjoy this book as well
