RegulatorFix Door Lock Repair Kit - Front (left or right) for VW Golf IV Jetta

Great product with a couple caveats.
Great replacement pieces for door lock cylinder in '99 VW Golf MkIV at this price. Dealer wanted 14X the cost and 5-7 days since it requires a custom part from VW (they don't sell just the replacement parts). In my case the lock cylinder was fine but one of the linkage pieces broke. This kit worked beautifully but jamming everything together and locking it all in place requires some dexterity. One star off since it came with no instructions and one of the pieces had a bit of extra metal that prevented it from sitting flat without a bit of grinding. One bit of advice is note the orientation of every piece on the original and lubricate the whole thing with lithium or graphite before reassembly. I first put this together and the key would only turn 45 degrees to the left and right. I thought this was fine since it seemed to trigger the lock and unlock microswitches on a broken VW lock actuator. However, on the installed replacement, an aftermarket lock actuator/latch, it required that the cylinder rotated a few more degrees to the right for locking (unlocking triggered fine). Disassembling this and flipping every piece allowed 90 degrees of key rotation to the left and right. I'm not sure which is correct, but the latter worked with my aftermarket replacement lock actuator/door latch, so I suspect this is correct. These videos were very useful as references:VW Golf Jetta Door Lock Removal:[...]Replacing the Door Lock Module on a MkIV Jetta/Golf/New Beetle: [...]

Great kit that included all the parts I needed to ...
This saved me over $100. Great kit that included all the parts I needed to fix my 01 Jetta drivers door lock and I'm so glad it did. I didn't realize how many of the parts inside the lock had disintegrated inside but I ended up needed to replace all the parts except for the spring which I replaced anyway because why not? I already had it. No instructions included with the parts. I checked some youtube videos on how to take it apart and put it back together, simple stuff except for putting the spring back in. That part is rough, no easy way to do it. Just keep working at it and eventually you'll get it. Took me 2 hours just on the spring but once I got it back together it worked beautifully. Great product, would recommend to anyone with a busted MK4 VW lock.

Junk Metal
Retaining ring/cam broke in the exact same place as the original trying to install it, made of the same weak metal as factory.
