Ben Hogan's Tips for Weekend Golfers: Simple Advice to Improve Your Game Hardcover – June 24, 2014

I'm returning the golf in retirement and play 1-2 times a week. My time away from golf gave rise to some bad habits and less than stellar form. I needed to brush-up on the basics and thought about taking some lessons but, a respected golf friend recommended I read this book first. Glad I did. My golf mechanics and over-all approach improved significantly. I read and re-read various chapters as needed picking up tips that improve my game. I recommend this book to anyone starting to play or returning to the game after a long time off...but, I still might flip for some lessons...

The golf tips are simple and easy to understand, & mirror what Mr Hogan detailed in his five fundamentals. A great insight to how to swing, & Hogans secret through the impact area. When ever your golf swing fails, go back to these basics.

This book is easy to read and implement on the course. I completed the first chapter and began using the recommendations and using the drills to practice and I experience a more confident swing. The key for me is to practice putting, chipping, then long irons and woods for approximately one hour before teeing off on number 1. You cannot effectively adopt the recommendation without practice.

Very helpful tips, especially the use of the trial elbow in the downswing. A good read, Ray W over age 64

Some good hints and suggestions here but as a retired teacher I’m often critical of instruction methods. If you like the anecdotal preamble of golfers tales then you will like this book. I don’t like the way it tends to get in the way of the golf wisdom that is the point of the book. An interesting read for those who love the game though but it sadly it isn’t a comprehensive compilation of Hogan’s wisdom.

Very good read. Hogan might be long gone but his golfing wisdom and swing concepts live on...

A reinforcement of 5 lessons plus a few bits in particular good for insights into putting & chipping. Great read.
