Works so good I ordered a second for the other PC.
I had this in the wish list for a little while because I had always wanted one but just didnt know how windows would handle it. It went on sale so I grabbed it and it was so good I immediately ordered a second fingerprint reader for them for my laptop. The first I used on a desktop pc, I put the reader under the edge of the desk with a usb extension mount so you can just put you thumb under the edge of the desk below the keyboard and log in. It works perfectly.

Not So Great After A While
This gives your Windows 10 laptop same login facility that has long been on iOS or Android phones.Plug the thing in a spare USB2 port and let Windows detect & install it. After this step is over, you will then be able to setup Windows Hello from Control Panel. It is just like your smart phone, create a pin and then start enrolling your finger prints when asked. As someone else pointed out in the reviews, try to enroll your main finger twice. This is because you want to give the scanning system a better chance at recognising your finger whichever way you placed it on that day. Maybe enroll your main finger whilst sat-down and then the second time whilst standing-up. Windows will reboot. At your Lock Screen (where you'd usually press NumLock to get to the PIN screen), now just touch your BioKey and Lockscreen will take you to Desktop. After first setting up, BioKey performed snappily but not anymore. Not sure if it was the humidity during last storm or what, but this thing is not snappy anymore. Now because I installed this device on my parent's laptop, I've now had to tape some additional instructions for them to get this thing to work properly (see photo). It really pains me to see my mother vigorously scrub her finger on her dress because she thinks that dirt on her finger made the recognition process fail. Mum it is not your fault. If at first I'd have given BioKey a 5/5, now it is more 3.5 out of 5 type of device. (Actually you can make it snappy again, delete all fingers and re-enroll your finger(s) again. Then do this every 3 months. Sorry not me). My LG phone has a more reliable and faster fingerprint scanner, making me wonder why isn't LG making USB Win10 fingerprint readers? I'd buy that!

Sidetouch bio-key
The Bio-key is sturdy and durable made of good quality material if you have issues with the Bio-key i Recommend using a USB Extendere Cable going from the back of the PC as those ports aren't used nearly as often as the front ports. And aren't as worn down if your looking for the omnipass software you will have to get it from Bio-keys website that will take you to Softex for a free Trial version of the software. If you don't get a product key with product please reach out to the seller and be patient. As far as the Bio-key goes I have the sidetouch and it works with windows hello also theres some websites that windows hello works with and will allow you to sign in with Bio-key. The bio-key will work with other products as will such as LastPass. But may require a subscription

Pretty worthless. Seriously.
Pros:+ Works with Windows Hello right out of the box.Cons:- Works about 1 in 50 times at best. No, that is not a typo. Nor is it hyperbole. I actually mean that as about 2% of the time.- Works really fast.... No really, this is absolutely a con in this case. Because it works so fast that touching it one time very quickly registers as multiple, rapid, sequential reads. And considering those reads are all pretty much guaranteed to fail, you will end up with the error message that Windows Hello has been locked due to too many attempts at mach speed. If speed is really what you want, just realize that you will get signed in much faster if you just skip this step and go straight to entering your PIN or password.- Mega thick. It will not even fit directly on my laptop if anything else is plugged in, because it covers up whatever ports are next to the port it's plugged into. I've used other readers that were less than half this size (and worked better), so there's really no reason for it aside from shoddy manufacturing.- It runs hot to the touch for as long as it's plugged in. Note this also obviously means that it is consuming a lot of power at all times. In summary: Do NOT buy this.

NOT plug and play in my experience.
Struggled to get the drivers right and have window hello work. Had to go searching for drivers online. Eventually got it to work but it was a struggle. Works great after being set up though. But I'm pretty tech savvy and can imagine this being useless for someone who didn't know have to manually install driver signature.

WOW this is a fast way to log in
I have a new PC tower that is quite fast. By adding this fingerprint login scanner, logging in has become instanteous. I like it a lot. I have not looked at the included password software yet.

works for a short time only, unreliable
Works for the first hour or so after being plugged in, until it gets warm.Once warm it begins detecting false finger touches (i.e. you don't touch it but it sends a fingerprint to the computer as if you did). Obviously the false fingers don't match the ones you have configured, so you get a login error. After several of those, the fingerprint login will lock up...I emailed their support address, they responded asking if it's getting warm (apparently they know exactly what's wrong), after I replied affirmatively, they stopped responding. So, bottom line, this device is not useful and ended up being unplugged, sitting on my desk collecting dust.
