They look like mealworms but are black solder fly grubs and these are less expensive than mealworms. The Bluebirds Cardinals and even chickadees love these. If I could say anything negative about the product box states the larvae are grown PRC ie China. The box also states Designed in USA Raised in PRC. WTF does Designed in The USA mean my guess a unnecessary marketing ploy to make one think great I'm buying American. The ploy fooled me and led me to think good a USA product. Its not made in the USA but that's not a deal breaker for me. Most worms seem to be from China. These are well packaged in a plastic bag that's inserted then packaged in a tuff cardboard outer box. Large whole solid worms without the crushed and dust contained in most bags of expensive mealworms. I have purchased this product two times and highly-rate product and consistency without bottom of the bag crushed small pieces .

I purchased these to help give my chickens more protein to help them deal with molting and give their eggs a beautiful flavor. Wow the girls loved the treat!!! I was hoping they would at least try them but instead they went crazy and came to me as soon as they finished devouring them looking for more. After a couple of days they they see me coming and raise to me squawking until I relent and pass over their treat. There eggs are a dark golden and sooo tasty. I am very happy with my purchase and the results. I will definitely be getting more.

The chickens really like them The review asked about the flavor and freshness. I don't intend to taste them. Considered that they are dried fly larvae, freshness is not easily quantified. This product has reiforced the saying that chickens are pigs with feathers. They are all over me when I enter the run. In terms of value the fact that I give 8 chickens 1 to 2 cups a day makes it affordable. I put 10 lbs into 2 each 5 gal. buckets and secure the lids. I use the cup because I can't bring myself to touch these buggers. They have a distinct aroma that I smell when I open the buckets. It is not vile or putrid but I am glad that it isn't a strong odor. The odor is not detectable when tossed on the ground.

Birds love these

I was getting another type of larvae for my beloved ducks and chickens, but these are much better, at least according to my birds. I give them their treat every evening to get them back in their coop/pen after a day of adventure around my small farm. It makes them so happy and it makes putting them up so easy for me. It makes me smile to see them running as I head to their coop/pen with their feed and treat. And the price is the best I've come across too. Win/win

The media could not be loaded. I like these treats because they are high protein and I'm able to manipulate my chickens with the aid of these dried insects. I simple pull out the bag and they come running and bend them to my will. The chickens find them irresistible and delicious! The roosters feed the ladies these, the mama's break down the worms into little pieces and feed their baby chicks these. EVERYONE in the chicken family loves these!

Love these dried Larvae. Chicken go crazy for them and it is good for them. Ziplock back for easy to use and seal.
