Alion Home Waterproof Woven Sun Shade Sail - Desert Sand (11 ft 10" Square)

I have the 13 ft. 1” x 9 ft. 10” size. Looks good and seems to be well constructed. Took a while to connect fasteners to hold it up and then to adjust it so it was pulled evenly from all sides. Wanted this one because it is water proof, and would keep most of the water off table and chairs under it. So today it rained. Good thing I was home. Even though one side was installed lower than the rest to allow for water run off that is not what happened. All the water pooled in the center and it began to hang lower and lower. Then water started leaking through the seams. I had to run outside and push the middle up with a pole so the water would run off. Then detach one corner to keep it from happening again. It must have had well over 10 gallons of water in the middle. If I hadn’t caught it when I did I think it would of burst. Well now the big question is how to solve this problem? I read one person in the question and answer part said he had the same problem and fixed it by putting a hole in the middle. That kind of defeats the purpose of buying one that is water proof. I would appreciate any input on what I might do to fix the problem.

I hung ours at a mild slant so that water would run off, but whenever it rains heavily, water pools. I've tried lowering/raising/moving the corners, and I realized that the water pools because the material stretches out. The edges are reinforced, so they don't stretch, but the material near the edge just stretches out immensely and collects a massive amount of water. Twice when I wasn't home, the weight of the water has pulled the hardware out of the wall and pulled a good chunk of the wood it was drilled into with it. I now have it detached to prevent more damage, but I'm disappointed because I was mainly using it for water protection.

Not waterproof.I bought this and 3 triangles that were not easy to put up, especially without directions.The main reason I bought this was because it was to create a makeshift roof to protect my deck space from the rain. It leaks from the seam down the middle, as well as throughout the fabric. I installed it a little over a week ago and didn't get any real rain until yesterday. It's already too dirty to return, so when the weather clears, I'll try weather proofing it. I should have just bought the cheaper one and done that. But, now I know.

Bought this for my side patio over the bbq, so we can use the grill through winter (in the rain). So far so good. Will see how long it lasts in the sun.One small surprise though. When it says 10'x10', the measurement is from corner to corner. So, when you take the curve into account, the middle part of the shade is more like 8'x8' almost.

I underestimated how challenging it would be to get 3 points to anchor this shade to allow it to stay taught. If it's not aligned well it will collect water. Once it collects water and starts to sag, it seems to become more susceptible to collecting water. I'm still playing around with it.The construction of the shades themselves are quality and they do repel water quite well.

Was not a good fit for what we were looking for. Material seemed durable. The four-corner grommets were sturdy, but could have used more along the sides. Color wasn't my favorite either. The return of this item was quick and easy. However has to pay $8 or so for return shipping. Oh well.

I love this product. Although it is water proof, when the rain created puddle in the middle, it will leaks out slowly but that is expected. The product is sturdy and still looks good after so many rain and heat in the last 3 months.

This was a good quality for the money. It lasted just over 2 years under the Texas sun, rain and many storms.
