Gel Top Coat

tl;dr newbie to diy uv gel nails 💅 Absolutely ✨stunned✨ and 💝in love💝 with this top coat. Lasts going on 2 weeks looking BRAND NEW and I'm a dental professional/housekeeper and mom of two so my nails go through A LOT. Like a LOT LOT. **Pics do not do it justice because my camera sucks, it is gorgeous like freshly polished glass in person. If like me you have watched way too many YouTube videos trying to figure out the best products, give this top coat a go. I am new to doing my own nails but have had a lot of experience in the dental field with primer and bond, various acrylics, polymers, etc, and started with a kit from another brand (rhymes with 'Deetles' 😁) and I've loved it, no lifting (same principles of placing a filling haha), easy to learn with, viscosities of base, gel, and top are very beginner friendly HOWEVER the top coat gets dull and scratched within a day or two. Soooo I decided to order this Modelones Gel Top and 2 others and this one blows all 3 out of the water. No comparison at all. This is my favorite so far. I work my nails HARD through the week as a mom, working, cleaning, cooking, housekeeping, etc. and this top coat just keeps going like yo what's next?! The set I have on now (in the pics/video) is only my 4th set, first baby French, and the other hand I did the same day and tested with another brand of top coat and it's so bad I didn't even want to post a picture. My ring finger nail broke, all 5 have lifting, are dull, chipped, and ragged. The bottle came beautifully packaged and sealed, very clean, it was definitely new. It has a medium viscosity, so not too thin, not too thick, but I think possibly thick enough to cover 3d art. Although my 3d gel has not arrived yet so I will update when I give it a go ☺️🫶.

Works as expected and even better for the price

This stuff works like magic! I’m new at gel nail polish and I had a hell of a time removing all the excess fingernail polish from my skin. It was pretty bad so I tried this stuff and literally just peeled off any excess. My nails look very professionally done.

I specifically purchased this top coat expressly with the hope of doing my own Chrome style nails at home. I was nervous to try this technique out as a DIY because it only looks good if it’s damn near flawless. I started with Orly Rubberized Bonder (I have bad luck with good gel adhesion without this extra step, my personal ph is really acidic. I also work with my hands so I need every last ounce or durability I can manage.) Then I used Venalisa Base Coat and White Gel Color to finish prepping for the Chrome application. Now’s when this fabulous Modelones Topcoat comes into play: I painted, cured, dusted each nail individually (as opposed to painting this top coat on the entire hand and then curing all at once). Some Vloggers suggested that doing it one nail at a time would give a better chance of getting the tacky layer to really grab hold of the chrome powder, so that’s what I did. The powder clung really well, this topcoat made it so easy! The color and shine I was able to acheive was better than I was expecting as a first timer. (I used Saviland Chrome powder in ‘Teal’ over the white base color. Then I used a GAOY Brand cordless mini UV-lamp to cure the Modelones Topcoat for a full 60 seconds before rubbing the powder in. Once the whole hand was ‘chromed’, I cured the whole hand one more time to make sure it was fully 💯 cured to an avoid a chemical irritation (again, I’m personally sensitive, other people might not need to do this extra step for themselves) before moving on to the final top coat. I can’t speak to the durability of this product yet for a couple of reasons. 1- I only applied this two days ago. 2- I layered Venalisa Brand Tempered Top Coat over the finished nail instead of just using this same Modelones product as the last topcoat. The Venalisa brand has proven to be super strong in past and I didn’t want to risk it but maybe next time I will try sticking with this brand. Either way I’m so glad I purchased this particular product for the Chrome technique. I really think it made a huge difference in how easily I was able to get such an amazing result on the very first try!

First let me say I generally do NOT do reviews. In my opinion it's dumb to order pens, then give a 5 star review because "they write! The ink comes out!" Things / people should do what they say and not get a cookie for doing so. That said, I leave the energy for reviews for those which have incredibly exceeded expectations or which is a bologna sandwich disguised as caviar. Now - on to the review! Let's set the stage - I am a low maintenance woman; not lazy, just not ever wearing make up beyond eyeliner for work or special situations, I've never had a mani or pedi, I don't color my naturally dirty-blonde hair, and I can get ready and out the door in 8 minutes. One thing I've always prided myself in are ny nails. I grow them out, and a couple times a year I paint them. I would probably do it more except the polish always comes or chips off, and now I have to take the time to remove all of it. And I have better things to do. I was looking for a Christmas Red color and happened across this. I'm also all-or-nothing. I purchased 5 colors, base coat, top coat, UV light dealie, and apparently primer (which I'm still a little confused about). One thing came with a 2 sided file and, thankfully, instructions. To get across my ignorance, I was astounded when I put a "sample" on white cardstock to see which i liked best and found - hours later - it was still as wet as when I just applied it. I filed, I primed, UV lit, base coated, UV lit, buffed or something. Painted first as normal, 2nd try lightly, UV lit, repeat 2-3 times, top coated, UV lit. Google will it give me cancer. (It doesn't, though dermatologists recommend sunscreen 30+, which i did not do). One time did other buffing thing. I've done this probably 5 times to make sure this wasn't a PEBCAK (Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard - in other words, usually a person issue) issue. Every time, I "lost" a nail (polish). Even worse, my nails look like crap underneath now. This makes me sad, as I REALLY thought this was a solution to my problem. I DO like how they look so long as they stay on. I LOVE how it dries under the light. To be fair, I AM novice, and this could still very well be a PEBCAK issue. I may or may not keep trying; I'd love to get a dark blue. And since I've already spent the money on the initial cost (UV Light, top/bottom coats), and the nail polish itself isn't more or less expensive than non-UV nail polish, I'll probably keep trying. Bottom line: undetermined if this is a me issue or a product issue, or if it IS a product issue, which one. Colors are nice and dry fast. For ME, colors did not last "a week" or more, and potentially did damage to my nails. Will, however, continue to try as it MAY BE me.

This is an amazing gel polish, it’s super shiny, just a bit runny so you have to be careful. I read other reviews so with that in mind, my application was great and it cures quickly. No sticky residue as noted.
