Great quality set and the kids love the story. The elf is well-made and easy to pose in different spots. Just a warning to parents: you have to remember to move it every night! Other than the "parental homework," it’s a brilliant product that makes December feel very special.

Decided to start this tradition this year as a bit of fun on the run up to Santa. Our grandchildren are young so hiding places were quite simple but there was still some unintended collateral damage. As they get older and hiding places become more difficult, I fear there could be an issue. We'll see! Rather expensive I thought but it is well made, in a very strong presentation box that also includes a hardback book of the elf story. If it's going to be a 'tradition' it has to be built to last.

Lovely item in its own box to resemble a book, inside it has an elf on the shelf book as well. I bought this for my grandsons first Christmas so he can get used to the elf by the time he understands it’s watching him.

Well, we’ve managed six years without one! “I’m not going to buy one, we have enough Christmas traditions blah blah blah” the old me said. Oldest child comes home one day and asks “mummy, why don’t we have an elf but all my friends do?!” Gave my reasons why and moved on… then a few days later, more questions and so on and so on. You get the picture! So, we decided to embrace the elf trend! But which elf?! There are so many elves! So we decided the actual Elf on the Shelf! The day arrived, the elf that would stir me from my dreams at 2am when I’ve forgotten to move it… it came in a lovely displayed box with a story. We snuggled down and read the story, being sure not to touch the elf in case he lost his magic. Then that night… he moved!! The children’s faces were so worth it in the morning! They talk to him. Look at him to see if he’s watching before they casually annoy each other or steel the others last hula hoop from their plate! So, I’m a believer! And I would say get the real McCoy! Because it’s even more magical. P.s. I bought it when it was on offer… P.p.s must remember! Merry Christmas!

Yes the elf on the shelf story is lovely, my great Grandchildren will love it for years to come , lots of fun wondering what that naughty Elf will get up to .

This is honestly overpriced for what it is but i find the idea and the concept awesome. I shall start to read the book in December and move the elf around the house. I don't know if my son will play the game and am super excited about this
