Self-Cleaning Garlic Press

This is by far, the WORST garlic press I have ever met. I bought this after reading all of the good reviews (obviously). The press is so inefficient, it just smashes the garlic inside of its jacket and only a fraction of the clove comes out of the press as it should. Since I actually need to use the garlic I put in the press, I have to take it out and wrestle with the smashed, slimy jacket to get the rest of the garlic out and finish the job myself with a knife. So I end up wasting a bunch of time, a bunch of garlic and a bunch of expletives that I could have saved for something else equally as frustrating. Furthermore, the press is a behemoth. Pressing garlic shouldn’t be my workout for the day. As for the self-cleaning part, the holes don’t retain anything since it doesn’t really push much garlic through. Therefore there is nothing to self-clean. So I guess that part works as advertised.Why all the shining reviews? My guess is that those reviewers have never used a garlic press in their lives. Or perhaps it is because they received the product for free (professing that they are offering an unbiased review) and harbor subconscious goodwill for having gotten a free product which sheds a different light on the product.

Nice, heavy duty tool. I just feel like I don't get much out of the garlic cloves with it--more waste than should be.

Great, easy to clean, but if you had a weak wrist it would be a problem for you, it's very heavy.

Its sturdy, I like that. It has the cleaning side attached, I like that. I like most of the aspects of this Garlic press, except for one fairly annoying problem. There is too much space around the sides of the press, so half the garlic gets pressed through the holes, and the other 1/2 comes squishing out the sides. If that ONE thing were resolved this would be the most awesome press ever... alas...it is not.

Somehow this press manages to squeeze the majority of a clove of garlic up and out of the sides rather than through the press. This tool is getting delivered to the scrap metal yard.

I was pleasantly surprised how heavy duty this is. It is solid and well made. Love the self-cleaning feature.

For the price I was expecting something better
