Would I be able to play a matching game with these tiles??** A: It’s more than just matching. You play like the card game Rummy. You match 3 or more of the same number (ex: 4 bamboos) and make runs ( ex: 3,4,5) of at least 3 in the same family (ex: balls). The winds, dragons & jokers increase the value of your total points in your hand (ex: by double). The flowers add points on their own ( ex: 4 pets per flower). **Q: Do these tiles have a satin finish?** A: I don't know what is 'satin finish' but they are very smooth, very nice. My only regret is wish they came in aluminum case (or similar strong case) instead of the flimsy brown plastic case. I would have ok to higher price for an aluminum case just like others being offered. But they are NOT as big tiles as these or they are NOT numbered. I chose Mose Cafolo’s White Ivory color in X-large tiles for its beautiful classic style and would definitely buy it again for all sorts of reasons. These X-large tiles have a quality weight that feels solid and pleasing in the hand…and they make a very pleasant sound when “washing" the tiles. They are excellent to play with and large enough that I don’t need to wear glasses to see which tiles are being played. I bought these to play Chinese Mahjong; however, since there is an American Mahjong group nearby thought it a good idea to get 8 matching joker tiles. Customer service was excellent and immediately sent them to me for only an $8 shipping fee. Amazing! Of course, racks and sliders are not necessary when using these hefty tiles, but I ordered some for possible occassions when they might be required for American Mahjong. If you do the same, be sure to get 20” racks…preferably with magnetic sliders. I would also recommend a 33” mat for these beautiful X-large tiles. Also, as mentioned in numerous reviews, the little boxes holding the individual tiles are a bit fragile. If necessary, tiles can always be carried in a cloth bag, but I love the beautiful case they came in. A friend with a 3-D printer has agreed to make me identical boxes, so potential long-term problem resolved! In summary: I love this Mahjong set and have already highly recommended it to friends and family members.
