How do I install these? (First time pool owner)

On the disc that spins arounds with all the times of day on it, place the flag for "ON" at what time you want it on. The disc slips into the forked part of the flag. The flag portion goes under the disc to trip the on/off switch as it spins around. The words ON or OFF should face you when you look at the timer. Place a set screw in the hole on the flag and tighten it to hold it in place. The same goes for the "OFF" position flags. I tighten the screws with small pliers as they seem to work loose over time, if I don't.

Why does this come with two different colored 'on' triggers?

The two color "ON" switches are different and for different type of timers. If you have the T100 Series timer, use the green "ON". If not, use the silver "ON". Hope this helps!

Has 156t1950a been replaced by 156t1978a?

I don't know but look in your timer box and you will find the correct number that you will need.

Want to make sure I understand replacement. I will use the green and gold for pool timer. Which color is to turn on and which color to turn off?

The timer switches are etched with "ON" on the green switches and "OFF" on the gold switches.

Fixed the ON of our OLD Intermatic

Fits our old Intermatic wayer heater timer. The Go trip was all we really needed. We have an old Intermatic timer on our water heater. The GO trip from this works great.

Just what was needed

Fit mechanical timer. Allows for multiple on and off times. Slide right on and tighten down.

They work like originals - kind of flimsy, hard to get tight

They work and function as designed. These are old fashioned timer stops. Hand tightened doesn't work, need to use pliers to get snug. Be careful, you easily can drop it behind the timer wheel accidentally while installing or adjusting. The colors are great for determining which one starts or stops. I paid on $7.99 on 03/09/2020.
