Another awesome, action-packed adventure
Did I enjoy this latest book from Raymond Weil? Well, all I can say is.......YOU BET I DID. Raymond Weil never fails to entertain; writing story-lines that are action-packed, have great characters - good and bad - and are full of tension that keeps the reader on the edge of their seats. Star Cross: The Dark Invaders ups the anti, introducing readers to a new and deadly alien menace with the potential to wipe out all life in the galaxy. Throughout the book the main characters display courage and fortitude as they fight a new enemy that even the Enlightened and Protected races struggle to fight against and of course the Profiteers are there in the wings hoping to turn a profit or two anywhere they can. Creed, whom we met in the previous book, is out to wipe Fleet Admiral Kurt Vickers off the face of the universe for his (Kurt's) continued interence in the former's desire to maximise his profit margins and become the wealthest Profiteer ever. Of course, Creed is also eyeing up Earth's riches, again, and this time Kurt and the crew of the Star Cross may find it difficult to protect Earth from another battering. Awesome read and as I've probably said before, I highly recommend all Mr. Weil's books which are at their heart just darn good reads.

A well written SiFi novel with a vast cast of characters.
A well written SiFi novel with a vast cast of characters and sub-plots. I rated the characters in this novel to be "Developed" though they are somewhere between Developed and Complex. Just enough to get a good feel for them without boring one to death with minutia. My only complaint is the redundancy in describing the speed of kinetic energy rounds. Every time they come into play, the author seems to think the reader needs to know they travel at 10% of light speed... After a couple of times one gets it. This kinetic speed thing also was irritating in the first novel of the series. To get a good feel for this story one should read the first novel in the series, although the author does an adequate set-up of this book to enable a reader to get the backdrop story. Still, I would recommend reading the first novel before tackling this one. It makes the story richer and relates events in a much better context. Overall, a solid SiFI novel with framework laid out for continuing the series if the author so desires. I would rate this book at a solid 4.75 stars. Based on Amazon's rating system, a 4 star rating would be too low. I would like to see this series continue on.

Impossible Invaders and Figuring Out How to Beat Them
If you like space battles, which I do, you will like this. Very mild PG sexist undertones occasionally when describing female officers, but we’ve seen worse. It only annoys me because I share books with my granddaughter. Alien races tend to use very human verbiage and at times it seems a little dumbed down. That aside it’s pretty good galactic empire at war stuff and I’ll be reading the next book. I do like seeing invaders get it handed back to them.

A good story.
This book is the 2nd one of its series and, I think, a bit better than the first one. The Earth emigres on Newton are doing rather well and gaining strength. Naturally, a new and unstoppable menace is in the galaxy turning entire worlds of people into a good source. So it seems clear that the next books will be dealing with them. In the meantime, corruption in Earth is truly messing things up and the fleet from Newton may be their only hope.

If you've been procrastinating about his books, now is the time to stop. This is the book to read - his best work to date.
A few years ago a coworker recommended the works of an unknown author on Amazon. Knowing my taste in science fiction, she promised I would thoroughly enjoy his books if I just gave him a chance - and she was absolutely correct. Raymond L. Weil is an excellent author and talented storyteller, and I can definitely say that I am a fan. I have read each and every one of his military and science fiction books, and he always delivers a strong plot with a well structured storyline, memorable characters you cannot forget, and space battles that get your pulse racing. With each new book, his natural talent as a writer is obvious. Which explains why his works just keep getting better and better. Thanks for another exciting and enjoyable read.

Very good second book in the series
The author is very thoughtful. This was s good following book from the first book in the series. However, the author was thoughtful enough to explain points and provide context from what happened in the first book, so that one could start with #2 and still enjoy it. This seems like an example of who he is as an author, a man who wants his reader to immerse oneself into the story. He develops character and story line as well as introduces concepts for alien races that make the reader think. He is a good read.

Nice reading
Well, I like the fact that it's an original universe, not an easy thing to do. Storyline is good, with some suspense but the outcome pretty obvious.I must admit that some parts of the book are not so good - two dimensional characters, simplistic dialogue and forced paragraphs dealing with background information that plug the holes in the storyline. All in all, a nice book to read, and I will probably read the next one as well.

Firstly, the books are great. However I really wish they would identify the book No. on the front cover, like most of the other Sci-fi writers do (Ryk Brown for example). If, like me, you purchase a number of books at the same time it's a real pain to work out which should be read first and needed to look it up on the internet, which I really should not have to do. Just stick the book number of episode on the front cover, please. It's just common sense.

This series seems to be the same story as the originator series, same plot just different names.I am reviewing the whole series here.A perfect example of how to bulk out pages with extensive use of cut and paste. For example every time one of the Princes sampes a new harvest, just the prices name changes.Lazy writing, I shall not bother with any more of his books
