Review: This chest strap with keep your shoulder straps from slipping and it is inexpensive and easy to use. - I bought these to enhance a very nice Away backpack of mine that does not have chest straps. I find the chest strap to be important when carrying a backpack any sort of longer distance. This strap is very simple. It took me a few tries to get it on how I wanted it, but I did. I'm not great with knots, etc so I messed up putting it on backward, etc. Now this lovely Away branded backpack has a chest strap to keep the shoulder straps from slipping down. Great 6 dollar investment!
Review: Works Great. Reasonable Price - I have taken up as exercise walking with a backpack with some light barbells inside. U til I got this sternum strap, the straps on my trusty backpack would slip every few blocks. I priced backpacks with a sternum strap and they were too expensive. I bought these straps and they work great. Sure, they slip down when I am not wearing the backpack, so I have to put them back. But the tension of the weight of the pack keeps these straps in place when I am out walking. A quick, effective and cheap solution to to my issue. Problem solved.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the max weight it can handle?**
A: Backpack weight? I'm not sure exactly but I use it with a camera bag that doubles as a carry on so it's pretty heavy... at least 20-30 pounds and it works fine

**Q: Do these have elastic sewn into the straps to allow for chest expansion/contraction?**
A: No, there is no elastic in the chest strap.

**Q: what is the with of the buckle. trying to match up to the buckle that I have on the saddle bag**
A: I had no problem.

**Q: can this go across my waist and chest? Does it stretch?**
A: It can go over either your waist or chest. It's not stretch, but you can adjust the length from 4"-22".

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worth the price, good quality, with just minor knock
*by S***E on September 8, 2026*

The price was great, it was easy to attach and is incredibly sturdy. The only knock is, at least on 5.11 backpack straps, it seems impossible to keep the chest straps in place. No amount of tightening helps. It’s a minor inconvenience.
