I hope I never have to test it to see how good it really works

I sure hope I never have to test this, meaning, I hope my antenna never gets hit by lightning. However, I'm happy that I included it on my antenna setup, just the same. I've had it inline to my antenna for a while now. It hasn't negatively affected performance of the antenna that I've been able to detect. It didn't change the impedance or SWR either.

I liked it for the size.

The name of the product may be overly ambitious. It probably can't stop a lightning strike from doing damage. It can, however, drain off the high impulse voltages produced by nearby lightning. It should be placed close to a ground rod, connected to the rod by heavy-gauge copper wire. Cut the coax and put a PL-259 connector on each side. Screw them onto the SO-239s on the lightning arrestor. Installation finished. You can feel a little more comfortable, but still remove the antenna cable from the radio during thunderstorms.

You do not need to use the provided lug. Home Depot sells copper lugs that will fit 6AWG wire for grounding. This will protect your equipment from lightning related surges. Came just as described

Looks good!Got it hooked up, and wrapped connection's with rubber water proof tape. Time will tell if it is effective. Hoping I never have to find out if it did/didn't work.

A little pricey, but I trust MFJ products over the years. This is well built.
