works perfectly!
The other reviews saying the clock may need adjustment within the first moon cycle were correct, however, it wasn't that far off for the first cycle, and has been perfectly on time since! It's great being able to check the moon phase as easily as the time, even on overcast days! Unlike moon phase apps and calendars, this product allows me to view and plan for the phase of the moon using a chronometer, which I prefer. I wish the mechanism came in wrist watch size; I'd wear it every day and give them as gifts!! Thank you so much, I will definitely be purchasing more of these as holiday gifts this year!

Interesting clock, maybe unique -- does what it says.
I found this clock while searching for a clock -movement- that would track phases of the moon. I never did find a movement, and the maker of this clock was unresponsive to emails... so I decided to take a chance and try one of his clocks.Presumably the maker of this clock either makes his own movements, or else he has an exclusive contract with someone who makes them for him, because the clock does just what it says -- it tracks the phases of the moon. You set it by checking a calendar or the web for the time of a particular moon phase in your location, then setting the hand to that phase on the dial at that precise time. The quarters, full, and new moons are the simplest setting points, and likely to be indicated on most calendars. The single hand makes one full circuit around the clock face each lunar month (29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, on average). Because the hand moves so slowly -- it takes nearly 2-1/2 days for the hand to move between "numbers" -- you have to let the clock run for a while to be sure it's really working and accurately set. After about three weeks, and one minor adjustment, I'm convinced that the clock works as advertised. The face material is allegedly recycled paper, and the surface texture does feel sort of like cardboard, but it's a good quarter inch thick, very ridged, and actually looks more like slate. There is a plastic cover over the movement on back, and supposedly the clock can be used outdoors, but I'm not sure how well the face would stand up to sun, rain, and snow. I'm using mine indoors, so that's not an issue for me.The face is about 7x7 inches, about the size of a typical battery-powered wall clock. It runs on a single AA cell, and the single hand is silver. With the black face, the clock is easily read from across a large room. Operation is essentially silent. Two little things I'd change:1) Rather than the full moon, I would have put the new moon at the top, since that's usually considered the start of the lunar month and most clocks start their day at 12-o'clock. However, this was easily fixed by loosening the nut on the dial, rotating the movement 180 degrees, and tightening it back up. This puts the maker's logo upside down, but the logo is so small that I'm not concerned about this.2) There are 12 moon phases shown on the dial, which tends to make this look like a regular clock that lost a hand. I would have just used the 8 named phases: new, waxing crescent, 1st quarter, waxing gibbous, full, waning gibbous, 3rd quarter, and waning crescent. This would give the clock a more distinctive look.Outside of grandfather clocks, there aren't many moon-phase clocks out there, and this is the only one I found with a simple, uncomplicated clock face. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Recommended.

Yes, really a moon phase clock
This is a really neat clock. The single hand makes one complete rotation every lunar month (about 29-1/2 days). Once you get it set right, it really does coincide with the phases of the moon. It does take several adjustments during the first month to get it properly set in sync with you local lunar cycle: I set it on the first quarter, tweaked it a little at the full moon, and tweaked a tiny bit on the last quarter. Since I did that back in August, it's been keeping accurate lunar phase time ever since.Note that the hand moves s-l-o-w-l-y; it takes about 2-1/2 days for it to move from the center of one moon image to the next. This may lead some people to think the clock isn't running, but it is: put a battery in, set it at 12-o'clock, and check it in 12 to 24 hours, and you will see that the hand has actually moved. The face material feels a little like slate, but it's actually made from recycled paper, which is an interesting "green" twist, for those into such things. One thing which struck me as a little odd is that the full moon is placed at the 12-o'clock position. Since the lunar cycle really starts with the /new moon/, it seemed more logical to have that at the top. No problem, I simply loosened the nut holding the clockworks to the face, rotated it 180 degrees, and tightened it back up.All in all, a nifty conversation piece clock, and also a good companion to a tide clock, if you happen to have one of those. If not, never fear, the same maker also produces tide clocks, and combination packages:https://www.amazon.com/Recycled-Moon-Phase-Tide-Clock/dp/B01FMNCP3O/Pretty cool. :)

rendering the clock useless.
Mechanism fails to work approx. 5 days after replacing the battery with a new one. I have checked the electrical contacts and looked for physical obstructions on the armature, etc. But a failed unit, rendering the clock useless.

Durable and reliable
I bought this clock a couple of years ago and it's hung on my daughters wall ever since. It's still perfectly in sync with the moon and is on it's first battery. It's not the most glamorous looking thing in the world, but she loves it

Great talking point and very informative too!
We have this moon clock down in our holiday home on the coast, alongside the tide and time clock made by the same manufacturer, Ashortwalk. They have both been a great talking point for visitors, relatives and grandchildren and, at the same time, are both educational and informative. Would make a great and unusual Christmas present!!! Was well packed and delivered in a jiffy.
