Thinking About Induction? Get This Now!
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Let me start by saying I RARELY write a review. But after using this for 5 months, I felt compelled. In brief, all I have to say about this product is "Why did I wait so long to get one???" I love cooking - it is my happy place that takes me away from stresses of work (Bonus: you end up with good stuff to eat in the end). My husband and I have a wonderful gas stove but I was curious about the induction method. After doing some investigation, we were both left breathless at the expense of buying an induction stove/oven unit that would fit the space we have. We weren't willing to spend that kind of money, especially if we really didn't yet have experience working with induction. So I did more homework and learned about Duxtop. Seemed like a bargain and we could test out the technology. A bargain doesn't begin to explain what you get for your money. This unit is AWESOME. I use it far more often than I do my gas stove. It is efficient, works exactly as advertised, the learning curve is immediate. It has a sleek design that looks great, doesn't take up a lot of space, and it works with my cookware. Boiling time is lightning fast, control over cooking speeds is fantastic (there is a lot of control with gas and I was worried about this - turns out that this is nothing to worry about), and gradation of cooking power works well for my purposes. Others have cited that the fan noise is bothersome; there is fan noise but it's not terrible and certainly not a deal-breaker. The cooktop cools very quickly and clean up is easy. After each use, I marvel at how it looks sort of "brand new, out of the box" clean after a simple wipe. My husband and I are still contemplating replacing our gas unit with a full induction unit but that thought is way on the back burner now (see what I did there?) since this inexpensive burner is a staple in our kitchen now. Best of both worlds? I know, I know....gas isn't good for you. But we're using it so less frequently than before ('cept for baking). Bottom line for me: ONE OF THE BEST PURCHASES EVER.

Really nice. Easy to use. So efficient, it feels like magic!
This is an amazing induction cooktop. We originally ordered the double-burner model of this same brand to take to a vacation home we have. It will replace a double-burner gas stove. We loved the double so much, we got a single-burner version of the same stove to use in our camper. The top(s) - this one and the other one โ work very well and theyโre very intuitive to use, though they both come with a great instruction manual that you should read before you use the tops because there are things to be aware of for proper use. For instance, only certain types of pots and pans are suitable for use with an induction cooktop, and you can cook by level (level one, level two, etc.) OR you can cook by setting the temperature that you want to cook at โ 225, 350, etc. There a setting for boil, and I can boil six cups of water on either top in 5 minutes flat from start to finish. The cooking levels are easy to use, but if you take time to learn what temperature works best (for you) for the various things you cook โ particularly if theyโre finicky (like doing eggs well), youโll find thereโs nothing better than the precision with which you can cook on these cooktops. Time to buy one for my daughter!

Love this induction burner, replaced our gas stovetop
We got this induction burner to try out induction cooking and see if it could be a viable replacement for our propane gas stovetop. We had been seeing a lot of news articles about propane and natural gas leaking cancer-causing chemicals into the house, and we wanted to transition away from using propane anyway because our tank needed to be replaced. The burner is very easy to use, and the instructions were excellent at helping us learn how to cook with induction. My favorite aspect is that the heat level can be selected using specific numbers. When we later looked for built-in induction cooktops, we found that many of them lacked this wonderful feature, so we decided to just continue using this portable cooktop instead of installing one, and bought a second portable induction cooktop from this same brand, which we also love. There are a few downsides which were not enough of a big deal to us to outweigh the benefits: As other reviews mention, there is a high-pitched humming noise when the unit is heating up. Some of our family members, particularly children, were greatly bothered by this in the beginning, while adults who don't hear as well noticed it but weren't bothered by it much. The noise pitch and volume seems to vary depending on the type of cookware used--generally, more ferrous materials such as cast iron seem to make less noise, and nonstick pans that just have a layer of metallic surface on the bottom made the most noise. We found it's much more usable with a silicone mat--otherwise the pan can easily slide around on the cooktop, particularly when you're boiling water and it splashes over the sides. There is a slight learning curve to cooking with induction, but as a pretty functional family "cook" who makes just simple dishes, I found it very intuitive. Much of the challenge was that I decided to also learn how to cook with cast iron at the same time, and that also has its own learning curve, which I found to be steeper than cooking with induction. Many people we've shared our positive induction experience with are incredulous that we were okay with buying all new cookware, but we used this as an opportunity to clear out a lot of the cookware clutter from our kitchen. We found we really only ever used a few pans anyway, and we were happy to have an excuse to replace our cookware that had scratches in the nonstick coating, which likely wasn't good for us to keep using anyway. I would highly recommend this induction burner to anyone looking to try out cooking with induction, relatively inexpensively. We've had it for a year, using it several times a week usually, and it has always performed consistently well.

We love this single burner hot plate!
We purchased the Duxtop induction hot plate to use for about 5 weeks while our kitchen renovation was underway. The kitchen is done and we still use it! The Duxtop induction hot plate was our first foray into induction cooking. We were so impressed with having more accurate temperature control and at how much faster water boils. My husband uses it to fry his ground turkey and chicken sausage saying it works better than the electric range. I use it when I need to boil water for pasta or to cook rice. I took off one star because after only 5 weeks of light use, the cooling fan went on the fritz. I contacted the manufacturer through Amazon and they were very responsive to my issue. As requested, I sent a photo of the cord cut and the information sticker on the underside of the device. A replacement hot plate arrived two days later. Our hope is that the replacement will last for a long time with careful usage 2-3 times a week. In fact, I bought this model based on another review which said they used theirs daily for years. I hope the replacement will do just that! If not, I will update the review. Overall, we are very impressed with the quality, value, practical size and other aspects of durability. We enjoy faster, more efficient cooking of several of our food staples. The customer service was excellent at resolving our cooling fan issue. I would encourage anyone who experiences a problem to use the link under your orders to contact the manufacturer if your 30 day Amazon return window has expired. Because of our positive experience with induction cooking, we are considering purchasing a full size induction range for the kitchen in a new house we are building. ๐๐ผ

A Great Countertop Unit
I chose Duxtop because online reviews are nearly unanimous in ranking that #1 unless going to a much more expensive unit. I also like that it has 20 power levels -- in my experience, the 10 levels that most of its competitors have are just not enough (the main problem is not having enough fine-grained control at the low end). I tried a few things when I first got it and found that any issues don't really matter to me in practice. The coil diameter is smaller than on the much more expensive units, but my pots spread the heat well enough that I do not notice it when actually cooking. (The only exception was an 11" 12-quart All-Clad stockpot, but that's awfully big for a countertop unit.) Another thing I noticed is that the coil pulsing is more pronounced than on a much more expensive Vollrath unit. Again, in practice, I never notice that when actually cooking. One thing that I was pleased to confirm is power. The power of a countertop unit is limited by the home's circuit breaker so the Duxtop is as powerful as a more expensive unit, albeit delivered through a smaller coil. The result is that the Duxtop can boil water (or do any other cooking) as quickly as a more expensive unit. Another thing I like, and take to be a sign of good quality, is that its power cord is quite heavy and its plug is well-designed for gripping. There is no reason to pull on the cord when unplugging. That is good because my one minor quibble is that, while there is an on/off control, it has a very bright LED even when off. Duxtop says to unplug it between uses. A minor quibble, but not really a problem for me. The one thing I cannot comment on is its temperature control. My cooking has not involved that, so I cannot say how well it holds a temperature. Based on the reviews I read, I have no reason to question that aspect -- it's just that I have no personal experience to report. Other than that it is well-designed, attractive, easy to understand, works well, and I use it a lot -- several times most days. I am glad I chose the Duxtop.

Exact temperature control for all types of foods
Being unsure of transitioning to an induction cooktop in our kitchen remodel (still happening), I ordered this to test induction cooking. I read lots of reviews and blogs on portable induction cooktops, and I am so sold on this little appliance I took it with me on a recent road trip along with a Hexclad pot to use in hotels for my meals. I still have a perfectly functioning electric stove but I prefer to use this and it's a mainstay in my kitchen. The LCD sensor touch is responsive, intuitive and quick. The booklet manual and instructions were very thorough, as one goes through a learning curve going to induction from gas or electric. If you are patient at first and do your reading, the payoff is quicker cooking and easy clean-up. I've cooked fried foods, stir-fry, regular sauced foods, sauteed and simmered foods, as well as just reheated leftovers. I have found the response to increased or decreased temperatures IMMEDIATE. I love the KEEP WARM feature. The BOIL button will put you at power 10 and within a minute your water will be boiling. I've used the LOCK feature once; not a prime feature to me but it did work. Take advantage of the power levels/temperature conversion charts in the included book. If your recipe calls for say, 325*, the chart will tell you just where to set the power level. If your recipe says to use medium heat, just a glance to the chart will tell you where to set the power. In my experience the 5.0 power that is the default when you power on and hit MENU is the highest I've ever had to use. Induction is so efficient and quick that foods rarely need a higher power, even browning meat. It could be my Hexclad pans but I've also used just stainless steel pots/pans that are magnetized for induction. All it takes is a soapy dishrag to clean the cooktop. I give it a swipe, then a rinse swipe, and dry it with a dish towel. I've never had to scrub like I did on my smooth electric cooktop. Another thing I'll mention is that it hasn't been scratched like my old cooktop. I am gentle on my things, though, and after now fully three months of daily use, it still looks brand new. Keep the handy box with the handle it comes in. You'll want to take it with you like I did -- camping, traveling, to an event as an extra heat source. For the price point of this portable cooktop and the features it offers this purchase was one of the best I've made for the kitchen.

Durable, Easy to Use, and cheap
I would recommend this induction cooktop to anyone except my worst enemy. Bought this April 27, 2022 for $112.82. 1800 W is powerful but not so powerful it throws a 15 amp kitchen breaker. Keep in mind this is an induction cooktop so cheap cookware without the proper base wont work with it. We bought the 3 year extended warranty knowing we were going to have heavy use with this and looks like we wont need it in the end. We have used this at least over 500 times in about 3 years in our kitchen as a sub for our sub-par old built-in induction cooktop from the 90s that is too small to put a big pot of boiling water on and cost over $3k to replace with something better. This cooktop has always worked great. For dishes needing high heat it is much better than out regular electric stovetop. It has 2 useful temperature options - 0 to 10 in .5 increments, or a temperature setting from low 100s for keeping warm, or higher to 375+ to frying some homemade cut fries - it does in fact do it all. We have sauteed, fried, stir fried, blackened, made many gravies and sauces on this. This is seriously worth the money if your cooktop is weak and/or too small. It used to be the sidekick, now it is the main squeeze. I did hours of research. This is the one. From my experience with this single product from this company, I would ignore the other marketing claims other cooktops on Amazon make. Duxtop is an established company, not a fly by night company selling cheap wares designed to fail.

Works well but creates a center hotspot
Works well, heats cookware fast, creates small hotspot in center of pots and pans. This is the third induction burner Iโve owned and definitely the quirkiest. It does heat fast and if you only use the center 6โ of your pan itโs reliable, but the coil isnโt wide enough to cover a whole strip of bacon. Overall, Iโm glad I bought it, but I wouldnโt buy again.

The BEST Induction Cooktop I've Ever Owned!
This is the 3rd portable induction cooktop I have ever owned in the last 12 years and is the toughest, most reliable and most efficient PIC I have used so far! This PIC brings 10 litres of cold tap water to a full boil in about 6.5 minutes, which is about 40% faster than the NuWave PIC Titanium, which was my previous cooktop. Too bad I cannot change the temperature reading into Celsius and also set the starting default temperature to a lower temperature; both of which I could do with my previous PIC.

Works well for my needs
This is a great unit for quick and portable cooking needs. I use a 10" cast iron frying pan with it 95% of the time and it heats up and works very well. The heat control is amazing and works as designed. I never have to worry about overheating, it maintains the perfect temperature once the cast iron is heated (takes about 8-10 mins). As a result, my eggs turn out perfectly and the exact same way every time without drying them out or having them stick. It works very well with pots as well. The quick boil and other features are handy. Again, very simple to use. It's also very easy to clean the top and it's nice and light weight for easy storage. Overall, after a few months or almost daily use, I have no complaints. It's a little pricier then the other Duxtop models, but having more heat control is worth it I think, depending on your cooking needs.

Was exactly what I was looking/hoping for.
Cooktop and control panel are a flat glass surface that is easy to clean. Control panel buttons are 'touch' capacitive sensitive (like a smart phone screen) as opposed to pushable bubble buttons (which I don't like as much, the plastic covering the metal bubble can break/wear under heavy use or from contact with something sharp). On plugging in the unit, the cooktop fan starts, but shuts off after about 20 seconds if the unit is not powered on. The fan runs continuosly while cooking, the fan is not loud, but you will hear it. Heat (or lack or cooling) often is a cause of failing electronics so I'm not worried about the longevity of this cooktop. The fan also stays on after cooking is done, until the cooktop temperature falls below a threshold. I don't mind the fan (noise) as it also is an indicator that the unit is still hot or in use (kids). The induction coil does make whine noises as the cooking power is turned on to energize the coil, or as the cooking power is adjusted up or down, but not while the power level is steady. The coil noise is quiet and is (barely) only noticeable when standing at the cooktop - I understand this noise is typical for induction cooktops. It's 1800W - boils water 2 Litres of water quite quick, it warmed 12 quarts of cold tap water in a tall 9.5" diameter base stock pot in about 15 mins, and took another 45 mins (1 hour in total) to bring that water to a boil. Cooking can be done by adjusting power levels in 0.5 steps from 0.5(min) to 10(max). It also cooks by temperature, but I only used cook by power level. Cooktop has a timer in hours and minutes, after which the induction coil power is shutoff, fan will keeping running until the unit cools off. If the pot is removed from the cooktop, it powers off if the pot is not returned after about 30 seconds. Cooktop also does not engage the induction coil if it cannot detect a pot (do the magnet test on your pots/pans before buying). ETL(us) Listed. Purchased on AMAZON.CA in April 2020 for home use in Canada. Only issues I have encountered or can think of are minor: - no 3-prong plug-in, it's a 2-prong polarized plug. The unit itself is all plastic and glass (top and button panel), both materials are non-conductive so the need for a grounded chassis doesn't seem to be needed. - The fan noise may be related to the fan not having as much clearance between it and the counter surface, so the air flow is more turbulent, but again I don't have issue with the fan noise. - induction cooktop would not work with one set of steel pots that magnets stick good to the pots sides and the inside base, however, they do fail the test of holding a magnet to the outside bottom (bonded aluminum?) base, which is the pot's issue - not the induction cooktop. [May 2020 corrected review spelling and stock pot size, it was 12qt not 16qt]

Best of the Best
I have been on the look out for a good quality, portable, stove-top. This electric stove-top is a great quality, heats up quick. Keeps the heat steady. I have cooked on it multiple times already & Iโm very happy with this product. In addition, it has a timer setting. Very useful timer setting, I use while boiling eggs & cooking chicken.
