A great inspirational philosophy, whole body and mind approach, with amazing easy to prepare foods!
I discovered Kimberly Snyder through her previous books and quickly became a fan! As a certified nutritionist who has explored foods around the world; knows her craft ; and has worked with clients to change their habits and bodies; she has a unique and detailed perspective on food. Though I always thought of myself as fairly educated in health and diet, I found myself learning so much from her books and really thinking more about the foods my family and I eat! Some facts were literally eye opening! This book is very different - it looks a lot more at the mind-body connection - that impacts how we eat, look and feel about ourselves. A lot of the book seems to focus on people who feel very self critical ; maybe lack self esteem; and these thoughts manifest itself in treating the body with distain not minding what we eat and how we live our lives. if you are generally a positive person and do not seek a need to change your mindset, this might not be the best book for you. However, if you look in the mirror and tell yourself you are not good, / thin / pretty enough ; this book is a powerful tool in changing those mindsets.; and in turn how you can transform your body. The book looks at various topics, such as addressing childhood issues, old habits and fear; thinking beyond food, the root of fat and limitations of ego. Each topic has a case study from a client and is also accompanied by stunning photography in inspirational settings. There is a really great section on food cravings; with advice for overcoming specific food cravings - such as keeping a record how you felt after you indulge in those cravings, healthy substitutes; and topics for dealing with each type of craving. And I loved the chapter on chakras - talking about energy flow, balance ; and food types that connect with each Chakra. However, my favorite part of this book; is a reason I am a fan in the first place and loved the previous publications - the recipes. Though I have a plethora of cookbooks, the only standing recipe I go to again and again ,was from her previous publication -an awesome red pepper dip that lives in my fridge at all times! This book did not disappoint. The raw red pepper cream cheese endive bites are delicious and unlike most variations of cashew cheese that requires soaking and long prep times, thus took minutes to make and was so good, it was gone in minutes!! Another go to for me! The zucchini beauty sauce is also amazing and the Calcutta Kale chips are addicting...though you might have to play around with oven times and heat on this one, unless you have a dehydrator! Next on the list, the triple later raw chocolate mint cream bars!I loved the fact that this book has a very different take on foods, health and why we do the things we do, while offering positive affirmations throughout! Kimberley has a very cool, inspirational philosophy and continues to deliver recipes that are truly different delicious and super easy to prepare which is always appreciated! I will continue to remain a fan and reference this book; through primarily for the recipes!

In Love With Snyder All Over Again
I've had a weight issue for most of my life. I lost 60 pounds on Atkins and another 30 with Kimberly's other books in 2012. I felt great. I then got into a horrible relationship and gained those thirty pounds back over the course of a year after (stupidly) abandoning Kimberly's principles. After working up the courage to leave I found out I was pregnant and ended up putting on those sixty pounds I had lost being I (again, stupidly) blamed it all on pregnancy.A few weeks ago my son turned one and I haven't lost a pound. I've done Atkins, Paleo, Diet of Hope, and a host of other fads and lifestyle plans with no success. I still felt sluggish and frankly sick all the time. I finally decided to bite the bullet being Snyder's rules and principles have worked the best for me, both weight loss wise and how I feel. I'm now down ten pounds. I knew I was going to miss my comfort foods but wanted to suck it up for my health. What Kimberly has done in her third book is no small achievement. She has taught me about my spiritual connection with food and has broadened her recipe selection to include for cravings, something I don't think her last two books properly addressed. She also has made sure that these foods are properly combined, something that was overlooked with a few recipes in her books in the past. The macaroni and cheese recipe is going to be made tomorrow being that is my all time favorite food.Cons? It does start to feel like an ode to Kimberly Snyder. While I get that she is beaming and radiant, I have no want to look at her face every few pages. She also makes some outlandish claims such as a chi blockage in a chakra is what causes certain people to be blind. No. Just no.What I do love is that she explores a lot of Eastern medicine. She explains chakras and tells you how you can fit that in even if you are a Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc.. She really has outdone herself on this book. While I realize not everyone is going to agree with the concept of chi and chakras, I find that I am connected to it. She also focuses on what should be included in your routines such as morning meditations, yoga, and no tv at least a half hour before bed.If she didn't make some of the more outlandish claims I would definitely have given this book a five. Overall I found it to be wonderfully all encompassing. I also just enjoyed the guacamole pizza two hours ago and sit I'll feel more than satisfied.Do note that the Kindle edition has the titles of all recipes in white on white. Just highlight them so you can see what you're reading.
