I bought this as an expecting mother out of curiosity to see if my German parents raised me the "German way" ;) it was so well written that I got through the book in a couple days. Easy to read and full of fun facts and information about German child rearing. It gave me a lot of great ideas for my future child.

I bought this book as a German mother who was interested in what Americans think about German child rasing. It was so worth reading!!! The author researched well and gives historivcal background of both countries' child raising as well as a well analysed theory - why does German parents raise their children the way they do and what is the benefit for the children. An absolute must read!!!Ich habe dieses Buch als deutsche Mama gekauft, weil mich intessierte, was Amerikaner wohl über unsere Art der Kindererzierhung denken. Und ich habe es nicht bereut. Die Autorin hat wirklich gut recherchiert und gibt sowohl einen historischen Überblick über die Kindererzierhung in beiden Ländern als auch eine gute anaylsierte Theorie, warum wir Deutschen so erziehen wie wir es tun und worin der Vorteil für unsere Kinder liegt. Das Buch muss man gelesen haben.

Ein sehr unterhaltsames Buch - in gut verständlichem Englisch - einer amerikanischen Mutter, die für 6 Jahre mit ihrer Familie nach Berlin zieht und über die unterschiedlichen Erziehungsmethoden zwischen USA und Deutschland berichtet. Es ist nur phänomenal, dass man mit sich wiederholenden Fakten so viele Seiten voll bekommt.
