The right part for the job.
I tried bending a new hook on the end of my old spring and that was a bad idea: the belt snapped from over-tension after about an hour. Have had no problems after installing one of these new springs (and a new belt). Stay thirsty my friends.

These replacement springs are a lil heavier to install and therefore less likely to be the known cause of belt off condition on the 55¨ inch John Deere models. It keeps the belt tighter and does not allow belt to come off as easy. LA through D
