I use this lamp as a makeup light on my desk and it works perfectly; the light is brighter than any makeup-designated light I've used. I also love the sleek, practical design; it can fit anywhere. The ability to rotate and adjust is extremely useful as well. After 6 months of use, I had an issue with the charger, and the customer support experience was outstanding--extremely fast response and resolution. You can tell they deeply value--and care about--their customers.

Even though this light is about one-eighth the vertical size of my floor lamp, it puts out more (adjustable) light! It's small, easy to maneuver, and provides several lighting options.

First-why did I buy it? I battle with insomnia and good sleep hygiene. I live in the north and the sun doesn't rise till quite late and I was spending too much time in bed. Wondered if I had a bit of SAD also so I was motivated to give this a try. I'm still struggling to find the perfect position for the lamp so that I get all the benefits but that will simply be trial and error for the next few days. Benefits-I've only used it for three days but I notice that if I take my blood pressure after using the light-my blood pressure in now normal instead of borderline or high. I presume that is just part of my new routine of visualizing sitting on a warm porch outside watching the sun rise as the world heats up (I also got a space heater). Its the perfect way to start the morning with a positive outlook. I think it is also great to use to support my sleep hygiene routine for insomnia since it gives me incentive to get out of bed at the proper time instead of waiting for the sun to actually come up. I love my new routine! It's easy to use, can be rotated in a multitude of positions so you can figure out what works best for you. It has a very small footprint so it takes up almost no space on my desk. I'm following the directions to gradually bring it closer and increase the amount of time that I use it each morning but I'm already seeing changes in my life and I'll continue using it! Definitely worth trying!

I bought this lamp on the advice of my doc 2 years ago. He told me I needed a lamp of at least 10,000 lux. He also told me I would need to keep the light no further than 12 inches from my face, so keep that in mind when purchasing/using these lamps. I use it for both SAD and to fight morning fatigue (I live in Michigan- winter daylight is short). I haven't noticed a HUGE difference, but I have noticed a difference. In fact, there have been a few days when I have used it longer than my doc recommended (he says 30-60 min) and I found myself a little hyper- like I had ingested caffeine (I don't drink coffee, for the record). You don't want to use this in the evening! I use it first thing in the morning (on the brightest setting). If I don't have time before work, I bring it with me and use it at my desk. (My coworkers are slightly annoyed by the brightness, but they deal with it). Per my Doc, you want to use it flipped up, so the light is high, and slightly to the left or right (you want it to simulate sunlight as much as possible). I love that its portable and takes up very little space. Very bright. Can also be used as a task lamp. (It does get a little warm after extended use, so I wouldn't use it all day). The price is very good for what you get. And with two years of use, its been a very good value. The only con is that the cord has a poor connection- always has. If I move it, it turns off and I have to wiggle it a bit just right to turn back on. Annoying.

This is a good lamp: bright and adjustable. It does not have a timer but I just use my phone. It has a relatiely heavy base so it stands up reliably unlike most flimsy lamps. it's easy to adjust it from standing up to lying flat pointing up. I don't think it's a great travel option. It uses a country-specific wall wart with a barrel connector, not USB C ( I got a USB C / barrel adaptor). Also the weighted base (an excellent feature) means it's not ultra light. I will leave it at home if I'm just going somewhere overnight, but if I'm checking a bag I'll bring it.

Update: 2/19/2019 I am changing my review to 5 stars due to improvements in the latest version and the customer service. I contacted Circadian Optics about the light going out by email. Big surprise to me. They contacted me within 12 hours to confirm mailing address. After confirmation, they sent me a shipping confirmation within another 12 hours! This is the single fastest turn around on a warranty request EVER!! I had the original (V1) of this light. I received the 2nd version as a warranty replacement. So this is a review of the 2nd version as it compare's to the original. After a few days use, I can said that it is an improvement. The light physically looks alike, but there are improvements. 1. The issue I have with the base not being stable seems to have been resolved with this version. I don't know how since they look physically the same. It just rocks less and doesn't fall over as easily. 2. The light now starts from high to low. The original version go from low to high. For me, I prefer the High to low since I usually use high. 3. The power supply itself has changed. - The old was 5V 3A (15 Watt). The new is 12V 1.5A (18 Watts). So DON'T use the new with the old. - The old length of the cord was 3 ft. The new is 6 ft. Moving to 6 ft makes a huge different for those of us in the US since the electrical code for spacing between outlets are 12 ft. I am now able to put the light where I need it. - The power supply appears to be almost twice the size of the original. I am hoping that this is a good sign that it is more robust. I was using a Philip's blue SAD light for about a decade or more. Based on more recent research, the blue light can demage some people's eyes and a full spectrum light is recommended for people w/ SAD. I chose this light because of the size and advertised as full spectrum with good reviews at the time. After 1.25 year of use during cloudy days and in Winter (about 2-4 hours average per week), here is take. Pro: - Compact. I don't move it around and only use it in my office. This is something initial need to bring around w/ me. - Cost - More affordable than the Philips $100+ options. - Will built - The light itself feels solid with simple control. Con: - Broken power supply after a year of use. Seems to be common based on other reviews. They appear to have an updated power supply for 2019. Also, light says 3 years warranty but web site says 2 years. I have sent them an email for warranty and will see what the response is. Hence the 3 stars and not 4. - The base is small and can easily be knock over. I use some tape to hold it in place. It need to have something to stabilize it.

This lamp has worked great for us. It’s very bright for such a compact unit, and the 10,000-lux output provides strong light therapy without needing a large device taking up space. Most of the time it sits on our bathroom counter while my wife does her morning routine, and it’s perfect for that. It’s small enough to fit easily on the counter but still puts out plenty of light. The design is simple and clean, and it’s very easy to use—just turn it on and let it run while getting ready for the day. It doesn’t take up much room and blends in well with everything else on the counter. Another nice feature is the folding design, which makes it very easy to travel with—about as convenient to pack as a flat iron. It folds down flat so it doesn’t take up much space in a bag. Overall, it’s a well-designed, compact light therapy lamp that’s easy to incorporate into a normal morning routine and simple to bring along when traveling.
