The Surrogate Mother: An addictive psychological thriller

Great book, had me feeling quite stressed with the story line. I had to keep reading and reading to see what happened in each chapter. Very intense

Another excellent psychological thriller by Frieda McFadden. I listened to this via Libby audio and had it finished in a day as I just couldn’t stop listening.Abby has a gorgeous husband, a very good job and no money worries. The only thing missing is she has no children. Abby would do anything to have a baby with her husband Sam. The fertility treatment has failed and they’ve been let down by the adoption process. So when Monica her assistant at work offers to be her surrogate Abby jumps at the chance. After eventually persuading Sam her husband they both accept Monica’s offer. What follows is a rollercoaster of a read with twists and turns that had my head in a spin. As is typical with any book from McFadden once I started reading it I just couldn’t stop. There was one major twist that I did twig before the reveal but it in no way took away from my enjoyment of this this book,

Love all McFadden novels. Read this in 2 sittings.She's always a great read. Really thrilling and great twists. I recommend it highly.

I enjoy Frieda McFaddens book and like with her others I have read, this was a compulsive read with great characters. Abby is desperate for a baby and after failed attempts at fertility treatments and fallen through adoptions, Monica her assistant offers to be her surrogate. From the get go things start to go wrong for Abby and she thinks Monica has something to do with it! This is a quick read, but very predictable.

So I only intended to read a few chapters, but again Freda has you struggling to put her books down. Great read but did expect a little bit more at the end.

The way the author writes is more curt and to the point but it doesn't effect the flow. The characters are funny and relatable and as a woman struggling with infertility who has flirted with the idea of surrogacy several times, I relate so hard to the protagonist Abby. Despite the plot being cliché and predictable, there were a few plot twists and some turns I didn't expect. It's a quick and fun read and I definitely recommend! :)
