I purchased this electronic lockset to replace an existing lockset and handle on a friend's front door. He needed a coded door lock to accommodate a newly built basement Air BnB suite and the hundreds of positive reviews and favorable price made this my first choice. The install was as simple as removing the old lockset and fitting the new one into its place. Literally four screws and the job was complete. The feel and quality of this new lock is exceptional and it looks great too. The operation and programming of the electronic lock is also very simple. I am ordering a second one to use at my own home.

Pleasantly surprised by the value of purchasing this used on Amazon from Schlage. It came in an opened box that was resealed with tape, but it was complete with instructions and all parts. The only sign of it being a used item was a small scuff on one of the handles. Since this is being used on a shop building, the minimal cosmetic defect had not impact on my planned use. Installation was easy, and it was easy to program. All the electronics are housed in the outside mounted part of the lock, rather than on the inside mounted part so it should be installed only in a sheltered entryway. It is only secured by two bolts through the lock set's back mounting plate, so no additional drilling is required. The lock automatically relocks itself about 15 seconds after entering the correct code. The manual key allows the handle to be engaged to open the door, but the door must be relocked for the key to be removed. This particular lock only has a 5 pin tumbler, not a 6 pin. In my application, I needed to rekey it to match all the other 6 pin Schlage locks in the building. In order for this to work, I had to file the key 1.5mm shorter on the tip to work.
