Cooling lasts longer than a couple hours.

We bought 3 packs so a total of 6 for after a knee replacement surgery. They have worked very well. I am a lil biased because I had one left from a company that we represented that was excellent, but these have held up and worked very well. We never used the heat function just the cold function. I put 3 packs in each of the zip lock bags that they came in just in case of possible leaks as some reviews had mentioned, but as brutal as we have been with them we have had no leaks and they are still cold after 6 months of repetitive use.

These ice packs are just what we wanted. They cool quickly, and they are very flexible if we need to bend them around a joint that aches. I put a kitchen towel around the ice pack when I use it because it can get a little too cold for me. I have used the ice pack on my hip and on my back. It can also be used on knees, or almost any area that needs to be iced. The gel also stays in place. It doesn't all move to one end or the other. After returning it to the freezer, it is always perfectly flat and ready for the next time we need it. It's a good purchase.

These are great for when any of my family have a fever. However, they only stay cold for about 20 minutes so be sure you have enough on hand if you use them for fevers.

They stay in a jelly form. They get cold but doesn't freeze into a solid. Perfect for what I needed.

Works as intended. I sprained the ligaments in my hand very badly one night, and paid overnight shipping for this. Very grateful that it arrived cold the next morning as if it had been stored in the fridge, and I was able to use it right away. Because by that time bruising was visible, the area felt stiff, and I was unable to fully clench my hand to make a fist. A full day of RICE ensured no permanent damage was done, and by the next day, swelling was almost entirely gone and the bruises were already showing signs of healing. The two pack makes it convenient for minimising downtime as you rotate between 20 minute sessions, and it takes about an hour to chill in the fridge or freezer. I found that my mini fridge was enough to get it to the right temp for me, and I could apply it without wrapping in cloth. The gel retains cold temp for exactly 20 minutes. As for the how... I was cleaning out my closet to donate old clothes to charity. I was just about finished, when I tried to grab a box with one hand, slipped, and I guess the power intended for the box instantly transferred back to my hand, almost snapping the tendon. The pain immediately resonated up to my shoulder for a split second, as if I'd been electrocuted. It's been a week as I write this and I'm able to clench my hand again, and I'm certain the ice pack helped start the healing process earlier than without it.
