Excellent ratchet mechanism, works perfectly for my application
I may be a bit more critical than most when it comes to my boats in general and securing them to the trailer. My smaller boat is a late model Boston Whaler Super Sport 160 and often sees salt water environment. After one season I am very satisfied with these for several reasons. While I haven't tested them in any emergency situation I do like the quality of the ratchet mechanism and the hooks that can't come out of place because of the spring loaded clip. Not that these tie down straps are ever subjected to direct saltwater exposure but there were several times that the boat came out of saltwater and had to make a fairly lengthy trip before it could be hosed down with salt away product. Absolutely recommend these!

Work fantastic!
Very handy and strong. So much easier than my old method of 1 long tie down. I use this on my pontoon to tie down to the trailer and would get them again.

Protective pad issue
These are very heavy duty straps and appear to be made out of quality stainless steel. The only problem I’ve encountered (and the reason for 4 stars vs 5) is due to the protective pad easily wraps up in the ratchets and gets torn. It really needs to be sewn down on both sides to prevent this.

Perfect for small boats
We bought these tie-down straps for trailering a 13 foot Boston Whaler, to replace the (used and not very funtional) straps that came with our trailer. These fit perfectly, work and adjust very smoothly, and are just the right size. The connection hooks are also locked, unlike the ones these replaced.

These come as a pair and I bought them as transom ties for my 17 foot boat. The hooks have a strong feel to them and they also have retaining clips so the hooks don’t fall off of the trailer or boat mounts. The ratchet mechanism is stainless steel and functions well. I like that it has a Velcro style cover to contain the loose end of the strap. Not an heavy duty strap but overall I am pleased with the product so far.
