Review: A Whimsical, Heartwarming Slice of Life Story! 💕✨️ - If you’re looking for a sweet story that feels like being wrapped up in a warm hug, this is it. Lately, I've been on a mission to add more whimsy into my life, and this book is a perfect match. 💕✨️ Kiki’s Delivery Service is an absolutely enchanting coming-of-age tale that captures the same wholesome, magical spirit of reading a cozy slice-of-life Manga. As a huge fan of the Studio Ghibli film, I was delighted to find that while the book stands on its own as a different experience, it is equally beautiful in its own whimsical way. It’s a sweet, charming look at a young witch finding her way and finding her place in the next chapter of her life, and the atmosphere is pure magic from start to finish. I loved the author's note at the introduction, especially hearing how much passion she has for writing and storytelling. It made me tear a little bit. This is such a wholesome and comforting read, perfect for anyone who loves healing fiction or stories about navigating life's big changes. Just keep in mind that this takes a wonderfully non-Hollywood approach to storytelling, and don't expect a formulaic romantic comedy, a standard meet-cute, or a major emphasis on a central love story. Instead, Eiko Kadono has created a cozy, hopeful, and lighthearted story centered on growth. And of course, Kiki’s black cat familiar, Jiji, completely steals the show! I love Jiji! 🥰❤️🐾 I highly recommend this to anyone who loved the Ghibli movie or anyone simply in search of a cozy, magical escape. Review: Kiki is a classic - Kiki is turning 13, the traditional time a young witch leaves home and chooses a new town to call their own. Kiki and her cat, Jiji, follow tradition, leaving their home and finding a new home in a lovely sea-side town. As Kiki starts her new delivery business and starts to make new friends, she finds she is growing up. I was mostly familiar with this story because of the Studio Ghibli anime. The books is just as enchanting. Kiki is very relatable as she learns to make friends and enjoy her independence. The various, almost everyday, events lead Kiki from a hesitant newly independent witch to a confident young girl enjoying her life in a new town. This story was first released in Japan in 1985 with the first English edition not appearing until 1993. Currently there are two more in the series that have been translated into English and I look forward to both. Highly recommended. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #6,746 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #50 in Fantasy for Children #57 in Children's Classics #60 in Children's Action & Adventure Books (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 out of 5 stars 3,250 Reviews | ## Images ![Kiki's Delivery Service: The classic that inspired the beloved animated film - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/817NSecQEfL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Whimsical, Heartwarming Slice of Life Story! 💕✨️ *by C***S on June 8, 2026* If you’re looking for a sweet story that feels like being wrapped up in a warm hug, this is it. As Kiki meets new people and places, she learns about how people live and how she fits into the new town. This story is different from the Miyazaki movie inspired by her book, yet similar enough that you recognize many of the characters. By the end of the book you aren’t comparing the two; you are caught up in the original story and wondering what Kiki will do next! And if you haven’t seen the movie, you get to be surprised by the changes in the movie, which stays true to the book’s intent but has more action. Either way a good book for children and those young at heart. ## Frequently Bought Together - Kiki's Delivery Service - KICK IT, RUKKU! - Amil and the After | A Story of Partition | Companion to the Award-Winning The Night Diary | Ages 9+ --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/327258025-kikis-delivery-service-the-classic-that-inspired-the-beloved-animated](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/327258025-kikis-delivery-service-the-classic-that-inspired-the-beloved-animated) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-10-15*
