Classic is classic
I love the classic because it is good looking and it works well. It doesn't leak and the top doesn't fall off if it is put on right. Match arrow, arrow to arrow. When you pour and your fingers are on the handle it is very easy to rest your thumb on the arrows on the handle/cover, offers security and a nice method of handling the pitcher. This is a two-stage pitcher, I use it for coffee and tea and cooking.I use a Pur three-stage pitcher for drinking water. For looks and handling, I think the Classic Brita has it all over the Pur but have learned to live with wanting the three-stage process for some things, wish that Brita would consider a three stage filtering system.

good
Good for well water, not sure about city water. Our water smells like sulfur and this takes that out.Update: Works quite well for city water too. The water coming out of our tap smells like a swimming pool. This takes it all out. It does have and awkward shape and takes up too much room in the fridge. It has been replaced by a different Brita pitcher that is narrower and fits in our refrigerator door. The narrower one also doesn't lose it's lid when pouring.

Perfect for a Mini Fridge
I'm a college student. This pitcher is big enough that my roommate and I can use both use it without running down the hall to the sink every two minutes. We fill it usually once or twice per day, tops. However, it's not so bit that it won't fit in our tiny fridge. I'm not saying that it doesn't take up a fair amount of space, but it takes up less space (and costs a LOT less!) than stocking our fridge with bottled water. We've actually started using mason jars to hold our filtered water ($5 for a dozen jars beats $5 each for a decent water bottle), and we can't tell the difference between the water out of this and bottled Poland Springs (but you definitely CAN tell the difference between the filtered water and tap water!). Much more cost effective, much better for the environment.I was a little skeptical after reading some of the negative reviews, but none of the problems other people seem to be having are difficult to avoid:-There are a lot of complaints about charcoal bits in the water. However, the only two times I've had that happen were when I didn't follow the directions when setting up the filter, and when I let the filter dry out. As long as I soak and cycle the filter properly and keep enough water in the pitcher so that the bottom of the filter is wet all the time (you can still drain it as long as you fill it up soon), I haven't had a problem. Even if a few bits get in the bottom reservoir (it's normal to have some in the top), it's not an issue. You can't taste them, and we ARE carbon based, after all!-I'd read that people spill water out of the top reservoir. Solution: wait for the water to filter (5 mins, tops) before you pour water.-Lastly, I've read that it falls apart when it's being used. I've never once had this problem. The handle is designed so that you're actually holding the pitcher AND the top reservoir at the same time. As for the lid, it's easy to keep your thumb on it when you pour the water to keep it from falling off.

Great product
Previously I had the Brita Slim Pitcher, which only held about 1/2 - 1/3 as much water (40 oz) as this one does (96 oz). If you live alone then maybe the Slim Pitcher is the way to go but if not, go with this one. There are 2 of us in my household and this one serves our purposes much better than the slim pitcher did. The lid also stays on securely to guard against spilling after refilling, and it pours much smoother and easier. Highly recommended.

Cheap thin breakable plastic -- wont last a year.
I remember the Brita filter from 20 years ago and this isnt it. The cover has a tiny lip, so it can easily fall out when pouring. And the plastic overall is hilariously thin. Taking the parts off to clean it offers a risk of the whole thing cracking. I've tried the other Brita pitchers and they all have issues of one sort or another. But this pitcher would have been 3 stars if it were make of thicker plastic. I rarely give one star reviews but this deserves it.

Green film
I replaced another Brita pitcher with this one. Both pitchers had the same issue. If I keep water in the pitcher for more the 2 or 3 days, a green film forms on the bottom of the pitcher. I tried a couple of remedies. There is a lot of sunlight in my kitchen. I thought that might have something to do with it. So I started keeping the pitcher in the refrigerator and the same thing happened there. I change the filter even though it had been changed recently. It still happened with a new filter. The only way I found to keep it from happening is to completely empty the pitcher every day or two. Still one has to wonder what about the pitcher would cause the green film to form and do you really want to drink water left there even for a day.The other issue I have with the product is Brita's claim that using a filter is cheaper and more better environmentally then buying water in plastic bottles. However, if the filters themselves were reusable that would be a better claim. Reusable filters that you could refill would be significately better for the environment (and probably cheaper). As it is, the filters are not recyclable because the contain other materials beside plastic and end up in the landfill.I cannot recommend this product.

Definitely a great product. Highly recommend
I like this product indeed. We use it in our RV when we're camping just to be sure that the water we're using is indeed being filtered properly. Ya' never know. We also use it at a beach house (trailer) that has a nasty smelling water supply. Works wonderfully. Just like some of the other reviews have stated the charcoal bits do sorta' swim around at first, but it's not a deal breaker for us as it all filters out in the end and the water has always tasted great.
