Digitally remastered and expanded edition of this 1980 album from the R&B veterans. Love Uprising was the group's ninth album for Capitol and was produced by Benjamin Wright (former musical director for Gladys Knight & the Pips and Barry White among others). Wright had worked with Tavares on their previous album, Supercharged, contributing and producing three songs. Available for the first time ever on CD (in an expanded edition with the single version of the title track, a Top 20 R&B hit), Love Uprising featured top musicians including James Jamerson, Paul Jackson Jr.. and Paulinho DaCosta and the Phenix Horns (formerly with Earth, Wind & Fire).

Going UP!
The five brothers from New Bedford, Massachusetts came back for the 2nd time in 1980 with the brilliant, upbeat and optimistic, "Love Uprising" album.Kicking off with the title cut as the lead single, further heat was generated with tender, playful lyrics, a melody and a groove as contagious as any of the R&B being offered up by their contemporaries. Sadly, this album, much like its predecessor, "Supercharged," ignited but failed to catch fire. At this point in their career, Tavares was experiencing a commerical slump and although they made frequent trips to the R&B Top 20 and Top 10 charts with their singles, their album sales were hitting all-time lows.If you like your Soul Music sugared with delicate harmonies and LIVE instrumentation a la The Manhattans or The Dramatics, Tavares proves to be as adroit. These are the kinds of songs not heard on the radio today nor even made anymore, as love and emotion have somehow sadly been replaced with more sexually charged pursuits. A special treat here is in the 2nd cut, "Break Down for Love" which blends seamlessly into the title cut which is extended for six minutes!Tavares would follow this release with one more album on Capitol in 1981 entitled "Loveline" which featured yet another beautiful ballad in it's first single, "Turn Out the Nightlight" and production from Kashif on the bouncy and perky, "Keep On," a perfect contender for single release which never manifested unfortunately and which could have been a HUGE hit.Very similar to 1979's "Madam Butterfly" and 1980's "Supercharged" albums, "Love Uprising" boasts romantic song selections key for the dancefloor or the bedroom from a byegone era in Old School Classic R&B Music of the late 70's/early 80's, which is heavily sampled, but which receives hardly any props from today's generations of music fans. Tavares never half-stepped. There is intense talent and perfection in ALL of their recordings. "Love Uprising" is no exception. The sound quality here in its first time ever on CD is superior thanks to Soulmusic.com!
